Eddie Hall Won't Recognize Thor's Deadlift Record

Italians everywhere just made a face. That a banable offense. Disgusting.

PLOT TWIST:

Thor and Eddie are actually lovers working together to hit this huge pay day so they can disappear into the sunset together.

I would be all for that. I think fighting is dumb but 7 figures for a boxing match? This spat, sorry I mean lovers quarrel of theirs just became the most lucrative in history…I mean probably not but for Strongmen it has to be.

Remember, Mayweather-Pacquiao was 9 figures. 300 million. 7 figures really ain’t insane, but I have absolutely no desire to watch two people who can’t fight go at it and run out of breath just for the chance to land a random haymaker and possibly cause brain damage.

Accidentally made a thread about this so I’ll just leave this here

I bet they’ll both be gassed within 3 min

Here’s a charity match Hall did. He gasses pretty fast.

If the fight goes ahead, it is going to be terrible lol

Thor is a southpaw. If he has any fight experience at all, that’ll give him a decent edge.

Also, if Thor has an actual jab, Eddie will be toast. Eddie is athletic and looks quick, but has zero jab, and no moves to get inside. Thor just needs to jab Eddie to Oblivion… (heh).

Thor’s lockout was rock solid. ā€œProofā€ he had more (not 19kg more lol) in him. Eddie ā€œheld itā€, but his left leg looked shaky to me. What do you guys think? (yes, obviously, Eddie had a good lift and got the down signal)

Eddy was a mess, he didn’t have much in the tank there. As for Thor…it is literally impossible to judge how much more he did or didn’t have. Many guys who train for this type of lifting look the same at 80% as they do at 99%, and sometimes are good for the same number of reps at either percent. Thor had more in the tank, his face was a little white afterward, but not crazy and he clearly had no equilibrium issues so he was not THAT close to his max.
And Eddie clearly has no idea how to box, he’s pretty screwed if they fight. Thor has a reach advantage and his head is big stretch up into the sky for Eddie to aim for.

Geez Thor is a frightening specimen - I saw him in 2015/2016 and it was like an ogre was walking around with people, I think he’s 40lbs (perhaps 60) heavier than back then and looks far more muscled - can’t imagine him now.

Thor is apparently 200 - 205kg right now. This is the ā€œheavy Thorā€ that he gets to for the Arnolds. When he was in his ā€œoff seasonā€, he was walking around at about 175kg. My guess is that 175kg would be around his fighting weight.

If Eddie doesn’t learn any Joe Frazier or Mike Tyson type moves, he’s definitely at a disadvantage.

Thor looks way worse here. Looks like he’s never thrown a punch in his life. Probably has never had to, based on his size alone. They’re both just terrible, and both have to lose ~80 lbs to be able to move around for more than 2 rounds. Thor has way more to lose here - despite the contract, Eddie is worth 35 mil and thor is worth ~2 mil. Eddie’s not competing in strongman anymore, and if Thor wants to win this, he’ll have to drop enough weight to seriously impact his ability to compete as a strongman, plus he won’t be able to do the 501 in competition. This makes 0 sense from all around, which is why it’s perfect theater.

A 7 figure contract. That payday is enough reason. When Juoko and Samuelsson were winning, there were about two or three guys making 40-50k a year living from Strongman and no one else was getting anywhere near enough to live on.
That being said, Thor did more illegal moves than I’ve ever seen in a boxing match in theat short video, but he was at least mving forward and swinging.

Nah. No jab, just like Eddie. Decent left hand though. Pretty much all of Eddie’s punches were pushes. If that other guy didn’t have head gear on, he’d have wound up in much worse shape.

Uhh…definitely not a decent left hand, and he literally turns his head to the side instead of bobbing to avoid a punch. That’s an instinct that’s so bad it can’t even be put into words. A decent left hand from someone his size would be a show stopper. They’re both terrible, but I wouldn’t assign the word ā€œdecentā€ to anything that either of them did, and I would 100% stand by Thor looking more ridiculous, if that’s possible.

Kalle Beck made a good point. (maybe Shaw & Hall said something similar) If Thor had missed the lift, the whole Coresports World Record thing would’ve become a joke and collapsed in terms of hype.

In my humble opinion, that’s actually more pressure than ā€œjustā€ a competition.
