Eating Whatever You Want

FYI,
An experienced powerlifter can absolutely turn fat into tangible results on the platform. IT’s not solely about strength. Leverage and shorter distances drives up many totals. Mass WILL move mass. If that hypothetical 300 pound guy can shave 6 inches off his press via his gut and eliminate week body parts like the delts from the movement - he’ll be able to move far more than you think. Maybe not from 225 to 400 - but I’ve seen some astounding increases once a lifter figures his own personal groove out.

Not sure I would have Wendler and Tate at their strongest as examples of great looking physiques myself

Similar to what Tsantos has said, are you talking about Wendler/Tate before they dropped some fat, or after? Rather big difference there.

Also, some interesting reading for you:

And from here, one bit in particular:

“I ate clean for many years and my body-fat stayed under 10 percent till I reached 260 pounds. When I tried to break that I ran into problems. I tried to bulk clean with more chicken and rice and I was eating close to 6,000 calories per day. Doing that clean was a bitch. It was almost impossible. I could do it for one day but then it’d drop off to 3000 calories for the next two. So I had to add junk food until the only healthy thing I had left was the lettuce on my Big Mac.”

On this topic, Matt Reynolds wrote an article titled “Eating Through Sticking Points” that discussed the value of high calories, weight gain, and lifts increasing. Can’t link it here, but very entertaining.
