Eating, Sleeping, Lifting

All are important, no doubt.

Is there one that’s more important than the other for lean mass?

I think eating is probably most important by far, and a tie between lifting and sleeping.

Lifting is highly variable; You could get out of the gym in 30 mins a couple times a wk and still stimulate muscles.

Eating is a constant though. No eating means no recovery means no mass. Can’t get around that. What you eat matters too, as a clean diet will net better results than a junky diet (for LBM).

Sleeping is something I haven’t really learned much about. As a person who does not get much sleep, the only real difference for me is just how sluggish I during the day, but I do not seem to notice much of a difference in the training aspect.

Opinions?

Oh, try sleeping good for a few weeks. I promise you, you will notice the difference

Sleeping good = at least 8 hours of sleep, the earlier you go to sleep the better (e.g. 10pm - 6am is better than 11pm - 7am)

And try to nap a little in the afternoon…

More sleep = More Growth Hormone.

And that whole bullshit about each hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 hours is exactly that…bullshit.

I dunno about scientific data, but I like to go to sleep as soon as the Sun is down (hour or two up), and get up as soon as the Sun is up (hour or two up) seems more natural :stuck_out_tongue:

haha thats earlier then my 2y.o. Regardless where you live, going to bed at sunset is pretty fucking early I would imagine, although it sometimes doesn’t get dark till 9pm here.

I think the best advice I can give about sleeping is not to wake up to an alarm. Your body knows how much rest it needs and will wake up when it wants generally

Probably a moot point on trying to rank the 3 but someone give it a shot

I generally cannot sleep until I fall tired and have to, not like some magical beings who can lie down for a bit and snooze instantly.

While I agree about the sleeping w/o alarm, what if you need to go to work or go to school and your body chooses to relax?

Who asks these type of questions?

You can’t have one without the other if you want to get anywhere.
