This thread reminded me of that 150 lb kid who benched 100 lb DBs (on video remind you) and many called it BS, lol. Yet, some guy can give a number on his lifts (which seem ridiculous IDK), and those same people believe it.
interesting
Gee, could it be BECAUSE THE KID IS 150LBS? This guy is 300LBS when he is lifting that much. The real question is, why WOULDN’T people believe it if some guy is THAT big?
I thought the topic was genetic freaks, granted, the 150 lb kid isn’t huge, but he could be genetically gifted for strength.
I’d be much more inclined to believe a 150 lb kid DB benching 100 lb DBs over a 300 lb guy preacher curling 350 lbs.
Not saying I don’t believe the guy, I’m just more inclined to believe the first, especially since it was on vid.
I will say however, the other day I weighed some of our barbells (20-100 lbs) and they were consistently marked almost 5 lbs heavier than they should have been. The same line of DBs are dead on, so, maybe the kid did have some mis-marked DBs, but even so, I doubt by much.

I think that kid in question will have irreversible joint issues from being a dumbass when he doesn’t have the muscle there to support it.
To be quite honest, if people want to claim huge numbers does it REALLY affect you either way if its true or not…
Only numbers you need to worry about is YOURS, if someone gets their jollies from plucking numbers from thin air then off with em, but if a 330lb guy says he did X im fairly inclined to believe him because he is a freaking MONSTER

Well then your existance is doomed to a life of disaappointment and constantly being let down, people seem to think that if they make themselves look good to others then their own image will go up aswell.
Some hope, as 99/9% of people are so self absorbed that the people who DO take notice are generally those with no interest in their own lives.
Do yourself a HUGE favour, and stop worrying if Mr. Y did “x” pounds on this or that excercise because you will probably never meet him/her and his/her post will last 1 day and never to be seen again.

you know you need to add the [/sarcasm] at the end of statements like that…this is the net after all.
Prof, on that same machine I can bench “315” for 4. I’ve never done more than 315 for a single on the barbell bench press. I’m not taking anything away from you as that is impressive, but there is not a direct carryover and we both know it. I’d be inclined to believe that he can “bench” 495 in the manner in which you displayed, but there’s no way he’s flat barbell benching 495 for 12. NO WAY.
He never claimed there was a direct carry over. He is saying… if HE can do that much… what makes you think somebody much larger COULDN’T do more? The man weighs almost as much as toney freeman… in contest shape… and is what? 6’ tall? why is it so hard to believe he could bench 495 for 12? do you not realize how huge he is? or how strong he’d have to be to build that much muscle?
I know I’m recycling what others have said… but still. Come on man.
I weigh ~125… I’m 5’2" and I can bench 200 x 3. I’m SMALL! Why couldn’t somebody who weighs almost 3 times as much as me… in CONTEST condition… bench 495 x 12?
The guy is a walking continent and as that was obviously his goal who cares how much exactly he benches for how many reps? If he only does partials or is lying through his teeth does that mean he’s small now?
Who would question his size? I question his outrageous claims. He’s got nothing to prove to me or anyone else, but when you make ridiculous claims and backpedel mid story people are gonna call you on it. He got called on it and it remains to be seen if he’ll even show up, let alone perform these superhuman feats.
LOL.
He was no doubt talking about his best lifts. One would assume that he was nowhere near contest shape at the time of these lifts. A smart man would avoid jumping back up in weight by 30lbs really quick just to prove something to people who often never post pics of themselves.

In the first vid he say’s he’s always around contest shape.

Guy, are you playing dumb on purpose? He was over 300lbs in the off season and competed at about 280lbs. With that in mind, why do you think he weighs the same and should be lifting the same off season as well as contest shape? That video was taken right after his contest. That was why he was weaker than usual.
He meant that he stays fairly lean in the off season. That doesn’t mean he weighs the same and has the same strength level.

He meant that he stays fairly lean in the off season now. That doesn’t mean he weighs the same and has the same strength level. He still had to drop weight even if it was only for 3 weeks. That means he likely dropped mostly water but that would still leave him weaker overall.

Call me crazy, but I have this sneaking suspicion that the mind behind that kind of progress isn’t now leaping into action to vindicate himself to some meaningless posts on the internet. Put plainly, I’d be disappointed if he gave a shit.

Well, you’re gonna be disappointed. Someone here posted a link to a bet: if he can curl 350 for a single in good form he’ll get a few grand. Apperently Charles accepted. We’ll see if he shows or comes up with an excuse.

huge285 wrote that Max claimed he would easily knock off 370.
My guess is that Max Charles is getting a kick out of that thread and is giving it exactly the kind of attention it deserves.
