That’s true. My specific region has been lucky. It’s not a highly populated,urban center. It’s more suburban to semi rural in character. We have MFD ( multi family dwelling) but no large skyscrapers, I believe elevator travel in those residential and commercial buildings are challenging.
I was thinking more of the availability of hip replacement as a procedure in the United States. One of my associates at work travels to countries where it’s rarely performed or with older technology of the implants. He’s been to several countries in a couple of different continents. My wait time , and our wait time in general for the procedure is fairly short. The longer the walking disability, the greater the complications and risks of fall.
How has COVID been in your practice setting?

Did this after my weekly 5mile walk, that has some good hills. Trying to maximize time outside while the weather is warm.
I’ll probably start some. More productive lifting when I cross the 90 day post op mark. I miss real lifting.

Going to spend the day with wife and youngest daughter today. She’s been here for 5 months, I think it’s hard to come back home to live after having been independent after college for a few years.
We are going to go to the beach and get some lobsters outside. I don’t think it will be particularly crowded were we are going, and distancing will be easy. If not we are going back home. It’s only about an hour from the house. Hopefully it’s going to be good.

Long walk with hills and youngest daughter. She’s a runner. I’m working hard on the hills and she’s talking and laughing as we walk like the hills are nothing. Youth is so great.

Not feeling the weights. Work has been stressful, I can handle all the big aspects of patient care, I graduated medical school 35 years ago and had excellent training. No BS, show up and work, and work hard. Every other night in the hospital, don’t whine and complain. Appreciate the opportunity.
I can’t stand the office politics and entitlement of some folks. I paid my dues to build what I have, I don’t want to just give it away because some young hotshot is envious. I better stop before I go to far.

Similar situation for me with a 40 something prima donna in my office. I have to balance my 46 years’ practicing with maintaining the partnership.

If this guy’s a good fit for your practice, your wisdom will impress him. Likely already does, considering your hip replacement comeback makes you look like a tough sob.

Getting older is easier physically sometimes compared to dealing with partnership issues.
It’s direct and obvious. Workout too hard , you know it will hurt. Dealing with conniving, treachery is more challenging.
Payback doesn’t need to be immediate to be useful.
I’ll get over it.
