DZs Summer Log

Well, got the bad news from the doctor today. I’ve got two torn ligaments in my right shoulder and one is nearly torn all the way through. He says the ligament that hold the biceps to the shoulder is fucked up too. That’s not the medical term of course, but he says he’s gotta fix that as well. I guess the biceps tendon is separating from the shoulder. Good news is he says he can fix it with arthroscopic surgery.

I’ve gotta figure out how I’m gonna swing that though. Minimum two weeks out of work maybe more. Heavens knows when I’ll be able to lift again. Gym membership expires in a couple weeks, I guess I’ll let that go, there’s plenty I can do at the house. But I can’t see renewing when I won’t be able to take full advantage of it. Anyway, lots of details for me to figure out before I can schedule the procedure.

regardless of the hassle (unless they will fire you over it) get it fixed. it won’t heal on its own. its better to be able to get back at it after the healing is done, than to wait for it to fail and never be able to use it again.

Yea…that’s what the wife said, I just need to get a couple weeks ahead on the bills to be able to wait out the first disability check. I can get about 3 weeks @ 100% of my pay.

Hey OL…I made the draggy sled with your design you posted on the homemade equipment thread.
Easy to assemble, now I just need to get some nylon cord or something to make a harness. I can’t wait to get out and use it.

DZ, sorry about the shoulder. You’re strong and in good shape so the recovery should be quick. Nice addition to the outdoor gym. I love the sled I built.

Sorry to hear about the Shoulder DZ, heal up and tear it up.

i use a tow strap with the ends (hooks) duct taped together., run it through a carabiner so there is 2 loops. you can either wear the loops like pack straps, or like bandeleros across the chest. I prefer the bandelero style, cuz when i do it like pack straps, they slip off too easy.

Ahhh, thanks for that. I was thinking back straps, but I’ll go with your preferance. Probably easier on my shoulder right now.

Last workout at the gym, membership expires. I’m not gonna renew till I’m better.

Damn, been away a while and stopped to check in. Is this on the same side as the old bicep tear? Good luck and get it done and over with.

Nope hel, that was the left biceps tendon that ruptured at the elbow. The right shoulder is screwed up now. Same doctor though, he’s good, he’s a competitive skier too. Everyone in town knows him, I wish I didn’t.

DZ, how’ve you been?? Did you get the shoulder fixed?

Good Bump ECO! DZ, Whats up Brother?

Sorry for dropping out for a while, I didn’t even look to see if I posted the MRI results and all that shit. I’ve screwed up my shoulder pretty good, as I understand the diagnosis, there are three primary ligaments in the shoulder, I’ve torn two of them, and one is nearly torn completely through. No wonder it hurt all the time. And no, I have not gotten it fixed, I can’t even begin to consider getting the arthroscopic surgery till after the first of the year.

My gym membership was nearly expired so I let it go and have just doing what I can at home with my various yard toys and weights in the living room again. I’m told it won’t heal on it’s own in time, so eventually I will need to get it fixed if I’m going to lift seriously again, and I don’t think I’m done with that.

So, I’m playing in the yard, tryin’ to stay strong. Made a dragging sled with an old tire, that’s some ass kickin’ shit right there. Having a lot of fun with that, but I don’t want to keep a log were I do nothing but work around and complain about my aches and pains. I do apologize for not staying active in other peoples logs. I haven’t felt I’ve had much to contribute 'cept a bad attitude lately.

Seeing Colin back around here is inspiring though. Great hearing the young one’s back safe and sound brother.

Good Bump.

hang tough, sounds like a shit luck on your shoulder.
Heal up and come back meaner stronger, better.
