There’s some dude who used to go to my gym, European guy, didn’t speak much English. Anyway he would do these squats off a pin where he had like a 3 inch range of motion, and go up to like 600 something, do like 3 reps screaming then strut off like he was Mariusz Pudzianowski.
Now I know there are uses for that sort of exercise but I never saw him do any other power movements, just isolation stuff on machines.
One guy at the gym is a competitive Bodybuilder and told him he was doing the exercise wrong and not to use so much weight but he told the BB’er he knew what he was doing. A week later bent he one of the bars and got banned.
Isnt there a video of this?
I’m sure some idiot has put himself doing that on youtube but if this guy did I haven’t seen it, lol

Why would you ever neglect a muscle group, regardless of training age?
cable crossovers… Crappy exercise for chest development. Much crappier exercise for weight loss.

theres a guy who wears a vest on a bike at my gym too, he pedals some of the time regular then stands up - which is where the vest comes in. the guy at your gym was probaly doing the same thing.
theres this room where kids practice tae kwon do or something at my gym but when they arent using it for that, fat people lock themselves in there to do weird ass shit, like i saw these 2 really fat girls doing ab crunches on one of those big rubber ball things
i just wanted to yell at them YOU CANT SPOT REDUCE!!!
So I was doing underhand triceps pull downs tonight on a cable machine. I Walked back from getting some water and there’s a guy standing in the middle of the thing looking lost, so I ignore him and a few seconds later started doing my last set… when all of a sudden one of those god damn ab balls rolls into me. I stop and turn around and this 150 lb dickbag looks at me and goes “is it ok if I work in?” pointing to the pull-up bar handles.
I was dumbfounded…I said “Yeah, but I’d
appreciate it even more if you wouldn’t hit me with a fucking ball in the middle of an exercise.”
Now all of a sudden he looks at me like I’m crazy and pissed off for no reason whatsoever- because of course, he didn’t do anything wrong. He said “I didn’t roll that into you…”
“So how’d it hit me then? It was laying over there, right where you’re standing, perfectly still for my last three sets”
“I didn’t touch it…”
“Oh, so it just magically rolled itself into me. Fuckin’ idiot”
I wouldn’t have been so pissed off had he not tried to LIE about moving the thing. Plus…the guy couldn’t even do A pull-up and he had no business being over there. I’ve NEVER had to yell at anyone in a gym like that before.
There’s a woman having a blatant affair at my gym.
Shes in her early 40s and has a banging body and wears really skimpy workout attire which is nice.
She spends most of her time flirting with this old guy who always wears sleeveless under armour and only does quarter smith squats followed by smith bench press. He seduces her with his gray hair, spray on tan and 15" arms.
For the last two months or so, i figured they either had recently begun dating or were having an affair because they couldn’t keep their hands off each other and made out constantly while at the gym.
Then last week the same woman comes in with her HUSBAND. This poor schmuck was 150 lbs soaking wet, wore big thick glasses and was balding. My buddy that works the front desk told me he asked about getting a membership because he wanted to get in shape and spend time doing something his wife enjoys
That is the dumbest thing i’ve ever seen in a weightroom.

Hey! thats actually part of their training. The dumbest thing I see all the times is the fuckheads doing DB military presses on those giant bosu balls. HARD-FUCKING-CORE! I don’t give a fuck if doing them on a ball cures AIDS, it looks fucking stupid and I wont do it.
The other day there was a kid doing cable external rotations with more momentum than Kroc does his Rows.
The other day I was about to do some dips, when some chubby dickhead jumped on my dip station (I already had the dip belt on) and he proceeded to do sets of 4 full momentum half reps. I was about to be pissed, until I saw his Velocity Diet 3.0 print out and couldnt help but laugh.

I have similar story, but the situation was kind of reversed. I was about 16 or 17 and just started lifting and I used to go this very cheap gym that had ‘wide range’ of customers. I was minding my own business and doing seated rows in a cable machine when middle of a set some guy comes and starts accusing me of dropping his water bottle ( 7 feet away ).
I had not been near his water as I just got in and had no idea what he was talking about. When I didn’t admit to somehow magically “throwing his water around” he really started to get pissed ( yelling face red ). I even apologised and still I basicly had to leave middle of the excercise. I quess he really must have felt like a real man for bullying around skinny ~16-17yo ½ his size.
Even if I had accidentally dropped his water bottle ( had a cap, nothing was spilled ) I wouldn’t have deserved the kind of response I got.
I have a feeling that even though the situation you described was a different kind, this “150 lb dickbag” most likely didn’t deserve your response either. Not at least according to your description of events.
Seriously think about it, a ab ball rolls to you and you get that mad; “first time you had to yell at someone in gym”? He even politely asked if he could use the pull-up bar. Even though he couldn’t do a singel pull up it doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be trying, right? It was your last set, not like he was going to disturb your workout?
On topic: Stupid things? There are plenty, but most constant thing I’ve seen is the “leg extensions 30 reps->magazine and 5-10min rest repeated for an hour” workout for women and the “6 different kinds of excerises for biceps and triceps followed by 30min benchpressing and flexing in to the mirror X 3 times a week” for men.
Oh and one not so common, just saw somebody taking the “skull crusher” way too literally few weeks back. Weight the guy was using was obviously too much for him and his elbows were open wide. You would think that somekind of warning bells would start ringing after having serious trouble lifting the weight in to starting position.

just off the top of my head. Last night I saw a kid doing tricep press downs on the lat machine followed by super deep and extra light behind the head lat pull downs.
There realy isn’t a point to going behind your head on lat pull downs. Especially when your only 115 lbs. I wanted to tell him to just do regular pull downs or better yet chinups or pullups but I thought he would just ignore my advice. He had that i’m 15 and realy tough so don’t talk to me look.
I’ve kind of adopted a you leave me alone I’ll leave you alone attitude at the gym. I dont give advice because I don’t want advice. There are maybe 2-3 people at the gym that I would trust advice from.

Adjustable bench set to ~60deg, weedy friend stood behind ‘spotting’ I was waiting for a loud ‘pop’ when his shoulder dislocated- didn’t get it though.
BTW these dudes were using BIG weights, like about 50lb,
still makes me cringe when I think about it though.

It’s a 24Hour affiliate called California Fitness in Taiwan. Yes, it’s like a shitty night-club most of the time. I usually go in the morning…it’s barely better.

there was a guy who was doing bench with these half boxing gloves like mma gloves. he would bench and in between sets get up and shadow punch and kick the air
