yea I get that, I just don’t see him being at the level where that’s going to affect his successes or failures in the sport for awhile. IDK, depends on what the contests are like in his area. The promoters around here don’t seem to favor medleys, I’ve only had like 2 in competition, and neither required a belt change. one was a frame/sandbag carry, the other was a frame/duck walk combo.
I actually don’t really favor a hard belt for most carries in the first place. I like the hard belt for yoke, but I prefer the soft belt for front carries and ‘light’ carries. So if I had 250 bucks to allocate towards belts, I would get a good hard belt like the pioneer, and a rehband soft belt. If I only had 100, I’d just get the hard belt. If I had 100 bucks to spend and I already had a hard belt with a prong, I wouldn’t spend that 100 on another hard belt with a lever, I’d spend it on the soft belt.
My favorite ‘soft belt event’ is actually stones. I use it for keg and hussafel as well, but it wouldn’t break my heart if i forgot to put it on.
Straying from the topic at hand a bit, have you ever worn lifters on yoke walk? I’ve seen a few pros wearing them for it recently, not on any other carry.
I’ve seen some folks wear them for yokes. I just can’t imagine walking that fast in a set of them, but there might be something to a “controlled fall” yoke by having your heel jacked up.
I haven’t seen this. I feel the rubber sole on Oly shoes is so soft that concrete would eat it away pretty fast. Don’t know if the crossfit style Oly shoes are better?
I am waiting on my deadlift shoes to arrive to see if they will go okay on the yoke.
Thanks for dropping in on the discussion! Do you know of any Australian websites that sell pioneer or do i have to order it? Il have a look at the pricing but if its one of the best il just get it anyway. Im willing to drip some cash on a couple of decent belts.
I don’t know any Australian websites, much less ones that sell weightlifting gear.
I buy directly from Pioneer’s site in the US. I have no idea how they are abroad. But 2 of the main reasons I like them don’t apply to you if you’re in a foreign country. I said I like how quickly they get their product to me, I like their excellent customer service, and their price is good. If you’re paying a fortune to get it to you, and it has to be shipped overseas, it might not be the best idea.
Do you know any serious lifters in your country? Any way you can ask some folks over there what belts they use?
I know a couple now that i went to WAs strongest man and woman lol. There should be a website though, i can buy inzer belts through aussie sites amongst various others so if i have a look around its possible il find pioneer.
I got all my gear(2 Belts-Lever/Single Prong, Knee Sleeves, Oly Shoes, Wrist Wraps) from a friend who used to be a competitive powerlifter @ 215-220lbs. Then started doing gymnastics/calisthenic work and dropped to 180lbs. Nothing fit him anymore and he knew that i still competed so he just gave it all to me for free. Safe to say, I am blessed.
This is my plan for the school holidays (7 weeks off because next week im leaving a bit early to stay with my sister for a week)
Still train 4 days a week because so far that works for me. 3 is too little and 5 is to much.
Reduce food consumption a little bit due to less stress e.g (no school, not walking around a massive school all day, better sleep etc) so yeah avoid getting fluffy. STILL eat lots though.
Also go for walks everyday in the morning/whenever to make up for no school.
Andd il be able to dial up intensity a little bit in the gym, but not going crazy .
Time to milk the gainz and am looking forward to the holidays and catching up with family and friends. Also Christmas and food lol
