Drinker with a Gym Problem

Slow & steady wins the race.

thanks Rachelle, i can look around myself too. (or i should be looking…sheesh!)

hi ya kimba. i love that avi. we went to Sierra at Tahoe. friends live off of 50 in sac and it’s the closest. claims to be beginner friendly and it seemed to be. yeah, i was really kicking my self for not magically jumping on the board on the second run from the lift and not swooshing down the hill. it’s much harder than it looks. but i think i will get it. i did start near the bottom for a couple practices and little lessons from my buddy then walked up. actually, i was quite pissed…but sooo glad i went up for a third time. i know you ski, do you board as well?

tonight-only had about 45 min at gym. was really nice and sore from the back wrkout on thurs and last night’s chest stuff. so, i decided to make it a metabolic sorta thing and threw in a bit of shoulder work.

usual step up stuff and unilateral leg stuff. tri bench dips (challenging cause of DOMS) 20 hypers w/ 10# plate behind the head<<<<first time trying w/ weight…yeah!

Hanging Clean and Press: used a pre-set BB 40 (60 was being used, so went for higher reps)

15, +5 OHP<<super slow, pause at the top and bottom.
supersetted with arnold press: 10 w/ 22.5’s<<<<<damn hard complex (delts are sore from the other day’s stuff)

another super set 15 HCP+ 3 OHP
arnold press, 3 w/ 22.5s<<<dropped to 20’s to get 7 more reps cuz no rest was too hard.

another super set 15 HCP+ 2 OHP
barely squeeked out 7 arnolds w/ 20’s.

rested for a good 2 min to put up 10 nice form arnold press w/ 20’s

Rachelle-did some baby lateral shoulder raises for you (used to do a lot of these, but i gots bad shoulders so i haven’t done them in ages + i stopped training my version of BB style in oct when i started the big lifts)

12.5’s, 10 front, then immediately 10 side raises (each arm for 10)

more tri dips, steps ups, and 10 push-ups<<<stupid bad wrist.

then, in honor of skye, i went to the park. did one big .3-ish mile loop jog, then about 6 sprints x 25 yrds, then walked the loop again. did some more push-ups. gave a dirty look to the pull-up bars and headed home.

did i ever mention my toe nails fell off from running? i could feel the nails (ones next to the big toes) getting sore from that tiny amount of running tonight, WTF? it happened TWICE!

LOL

T, I found the workout I was telling you about. I’m gonna PM it to you.

oh yeah…did stair runs with 25’s too. and i was pretty tired through all of this, as in yawning over and over. the 50+ hour work week caught up to me.

thanks Rachelle!

About the nails… could it be the shoes? I’m just thinking of pressure and such. That is weird stuff T. That metabolic workout does sound like an energy zapper. Good for you though.

My toenails used to fall off when I was a more serious runner. Happens to everyone. Are they blood blisters? I’d get purple toenails and then they’d fall off. Totally harmless.

i hear it actually is common among runners. and i was by no means a ‘real’ runner. it’s not the shoes, cause it’s happened in different pairs.

my co-workers made great imitations of me running on top of my feet. that was their explanation…jerks… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

harmless but ugly Alisa! shooooot…summer is coming up, it’s pedi time. i think if i stick with some sprints here and there they should be fine.

i’m headed over the kawfee talk thread…

Hey T!

I started out doing full body workouts before moving on to strength stuff and I also found it really effective for leaning out. I was also able to eat below or about maintenance and still get through workout and recovery with no problem. My experience was that I would do 3x a week full body and then the other 2 days were some kind of…dare i say it…cardio. (whatever bitches!)

Not sure what Blue’s sending your way, but one good full body move (hips permitting) are the 1 arm DB snatches (talk about explosive power), throw in some sort of split squat and upper body and there you have it. And of course keep that HIIT, circuit stuff in at the end.

But I’m def interested to see what you do - and I shall be following along!

i come back to find masch swearing in T’s log?

shenanigans.

quit bitching about your toenails. no one will be looking at your feet with an ass like that.

shit fuck damnit! now i really have to watch my potty mouth. (yay! cbear’s back!)

Good job! Yep, I board. Haven’t done it for a number of years as I prefer skiing when its icy/hardpack (my normal conditions). In fact, I learned to board during a Lake Tahoe winter where there was so much snow they were spray painting the street names right on the enormously tall snowbanks. Good times.

claire, i’m glad you’d be staring at my ass rather than my purty toes. funny fucking video…and just for you:

an absolutely gorgeous sunny day, low 70’s, light cloud coverage. this was wasted today by me drinking too much vino yesterday. a hang-over grub down with an assortment of greasy food from Jimboy’s Tacos helped me get a great long nap on this afternoon.

why the drinking yesterday, one may ask? we had a belated St. Patty’s day gathering. my grandma was coming though town and sis n law was over. then the misses’ aunt and uncle (aunt born in Dublin, raised in England) came down so that snowballed into a lot of vino being opened.

at least i’m only going to eat salad for dinner tonight. back on zero carb and pulling some heavy stuff tomorrow. i really need to go wash my car. that will be the only form of ‘exercise’ i get today.

I lied. I did not wash the car. And I had pizza instead of salad. At least tomorrow is a new day. Haaa haa, iPhone putting caps in my post. Much easier from the couch rather than going to the computer.

LOL. Pizza is great, I think there’s some waiting for me at work tomorrow. Chinese food is great too. I had some tonight, but I limited myself to one plate. Of course, I did not limit how high I could pile that plate.

not gonna lie i freaked a lil when i saw the caps.

and today is most definitely a new day. a sunny, warm beautiful one to boot. i felt redeemed with today’s workout after this weekend’s excess.

was planning on going to work by noonish, which would cut my wrkout time short. i was in the ‘zone’ so i said fuck it and plan on going in to work around 6. i can get my crap done without interruptions that way. and this allowed me a full 1.5 hours of the following:

usual warm up, step-ups to 5 risers, unilateral leg stuff w/ 15 DBs. tricep bench dips<< i throw these in all over the place.

DL: 2 x 10 @ 115
3 x 10 @ 135

atg squats: 15 w/ bar
atg front squats+OHP 15 w/ bar
15 more atg squats

seated leg extension: 4 x 15 @ 85 (messed with toe in or out on different sets)

seated leg press: 4 x 10 @ 85

all of this painfully reminded me that my tailbone is still bruised from snowboarding. not horrible, but definitely nagging pain. arrrrgh…

more unilateral leg stuff, just BW. glute bridge things too. 2 x 20 hypers. tri dips.
foam rolled (another very painful reminder of the tailbone issue)

AND: 12 min HIIT on stair-master followed by 35 min ss cardio on cross-trainer. hell mutha-f’n yeah. have not done ‘cardio’ in months.

p.s. i trained FA style in that i did this on 2 cups of coffee and a fat burner. yes-this is bad but one day won’t kill me and i’m certain my glycogen stores were over-filled from the shit i ate yesterday. PWO shake and BCAAs are fixing that…yes?

Heh I’ve been taking a fat burner - I’m not convinced it does anything at all but I like the raspberry smell. I often take it with caffeine pills, though that’s mostly to stop me falling asleep at work (easily done).

You take glutamine? It’s good for refuelling when you’re doing low carb, plus it apparently squashes carb cravings. (Good for digestive health too). I take a spoonful every morning, first thing.

T, I deserve no such honor. I’m hardly a runner but I manage dick around and generally get shit done.

I can’t imagine that being my first cardio session in months. I would have crapped out after 5, maybe ten minutes. Especially after a full workout, on an empty stomach. You crazy, girl!
