Drinker with a Gym Problem

thanks Bobbi, i actually have that site tagged already. at least it doesn’t put me in the obese category. the age factor pisses me off. like older people can’t be lean, and you automatically add some BF even if you had the same measurements at a different age. it’s all a number, i know.

i guess i was just wondering about muscle gain at the cellular level, like how the body does it and at what rate…and the implication for those of us who gain muscle but aren’t losing fat (inches) sorreh if i’m sounding FA-ish

hanging clean and press: 10,8,6, 4 @ 60#…i killed these tonight. i wonder what the implication using the oly bar and plates would be. i used my old friend, standard BB. i need to look back, i think i’ve done 50 previously.

standing lateral raises 15,12,10 x 12.5 DBs

Arnold press 12,11,10 @ 22.5 DBS. 25 was being used but doubtful that would have been pretty

superset (no rest)

skull crushers 15,10, 10 Both w 40 BB
w/ BB curls 15, 12, 10

10 HIT stairmaster, 10 min SS on cross-trainer

just ate one bite of grilled salmon (i’m a true carnivore, LOVE meat) small bowl of blueberries+pomegranate seeds, small red potato, swig of remaining Odwalla (fruit puree drink, swig of cranberry juice and BCAAs.
waiting a bit to eat small piece of salmon. damn not enough broccoli to eat tonight, must save for lunch. it’s finally looking like winter here in CA…rain & wind.

major fail.

cus of the “just one bite”

how very figure athlete of you.

just popped over there… i’ll be banging my head against a rotten 2x4 riddled with rusty nails while standing on shards of glass, under a shower of batter acid, if anyone needs me…

HEEEYYYY you guys. i thought you sposed to avoid fat immediately after wrkout? i said i was WAITING to eat the rest of it. and add some grnd turkey to a small corn tortilla w hot sauce to the eats.

CBear-that sounds painful, and not even remotely in the good painful way.

side note, my diet is usually pretty f’n good…til the misses weakens and brings home some shit food. i have little will power when something is in front of me. she worked 2 x16 hour shifts back to back IN A PRISON, btw… and hasn’t eaten shit in that time. bringing home fucking taco bell…ugghhhh

=+P i just HAD to give you shit for noting u took one bite of a healthy food.

i try to avoid fat right after a workout… but i’d still grub me some salmon and not worry about it.

oh man i could seriously mouw some taco bell right now.

I stay away from FA ever since I showed up with 11%bf and they said a year MAY be enough time to get lean for a show. I was like ‘ya’ll bitches is crazy’. Plus those suits are stupid expensive…

mmmm, salmon…the kind I has less than 5F…no biggie…

It wont hurt the bigger picture, ya know?

Hey, you ever try skull crushers on the floor? tis my favorite thing for tris right now…they call em deadstop tricep extensions I think.

thanx gals…so the fat in salmon would be negligible after workout…thas what you tellin me? it’s hard because i work out so late. when i go to get lean, i will really have to work out a food plan cause the over-eating at night will be a big factor…i guess. blegh…

stupid enchirito…ate the hell out of it. and some bites of ‘mesican pizza’

Bobbi-there’s a lot of foul language that could spew out of my mouth in regards to the twats over there. did they also tell the 35 lb+ of fat to lose lady that she “can do it!..yeeeahh for you…” fuckin assholes.

i just have a hard time believing i’m 28%.

MIM- i will try those since i failed miserably at floor presses…

You just reminded me I had smoked salmon flakes in the fridge. Just cooked 'em up with some scrambled eggs. Om nom nom.
Think I may pop over to FA for a quick LOL.

you can still get MUCHO lean eating a lot at night… ESPECIALLY if u work out late. you NEED a lot of calories late at night if ur working out in the evening.

almost any hard fast rule regarding weight loss has it’s situations in which it is the absolute untruth.

don’t get hung up on em.

and the number one peice of advice i can give you is to not overthink this whole thing. lift for strength. get plenty of protein. lots of veggies. lots of healthy fats. and u’ll see results. the more you phase out the alcohol while trying to lose bodyfat… the faster it’ll happen. but there’s nothing wrong with long term slow body comp changes. it just can be hard mentally.

anyways… ur doing great. just keep it simple. set realistic goals and fucking nail them. challenge urself daily and focus on really enjoying the “naughty” food and wine when you do indulge.

i know it’s not a “powerful woman” thing to do… but i find it really helpful to have to report my daily calories in a public forum on a daily basis when i’m cutting. i find it much easier to let myself down… but find having to report failure/pussiness on the nutrition level to the world is very motivating for me.

find what works for you.

u’ll know ur on the right path when you aren’t thinking about/overanalyzing everything you do every step of the way. simple, my dear. aim for simple.

I’ll second that; I’m doing the public food logging thing myself. Keeps us honest.

Third! Mine’s not in a public forum but I log on sparkpeople.com, really helps me stay in check.

KISS- Keep it simple stupid!

scrambled eggs and salmon flakes? How bout scrambled eggs and hash browns…thats what Im about to have…yay for training hard and eating a lot!!!

deja- thanx for the great advice! good to know i can still throw down some food when i’m done training at 830 or later at night…this winter will be about strength and trying for the 90/10 rule on eating. that’s very doable for me.

thanx to the rest of ya’s for chiming in. we (all YOU peeps!) will just have to wait and see how that works for me. then i will have to be accountable and probably post some eats come january/feb on a routine basis. i completely get the idea of public humiliation for straying from goals.

Cal, i took a quick look over there and i think i needs to follow up that comment made after yours regarding carbs…and just what is “a real athelete” and what is “real training?” wtf

aight y’all…i thinks i should do that kettlebell metabolic thing again tomorrow. me likes it for it’s simplicity, quick time and done at home! enjoy the weekend…

They’re idiots. Actually I’m glad I came here, I want to knock their heads together. I can’t be doing with that Muscle Beach Barbie mentality.

ooo, sounds juicy…I find it hard enough to keep up with you all…I’ll let you guys handle the dirty work, haha!

nothing too juicy, MIM, just the typical bullshit. i threw my penny in the mix.

so, yesterday i worked just shy of 14 hours…saturdays are supposed to be 6-6:30. never works out that way, end of week, trying to wrap up loose ends…blah blah.

had to pick up food on way home, rubios not a horrible choice i spose. chicken bowl no rice & fish taco. i slammed a pacifico while waiting. got home, ate, had half a blue moon and was promptly asleep on the couch.

today-we are heading to a restaurant over-looking the bay (not at SF, more inland) called The Dead Fish. the bar area is sweet, step down, seating overlooking the bay, a couple flat screens for the games, fire place, pictures of old movie stars on the walls. feels kinda like a swanky 50’s era time piece to me. martinis made properly, glasses lined up already chilling.

the FOOD…if you like seafood…omg. the brunch today is outstanding. i’m having my egg & crab & avocado skillet. copper pan, full of that + a few fingerling potatoes, cheese…heaven! other dishes to die for, mussels in thai green broth. demised catch of the day, fisherman’s stew… and i just remembered something…no corkage fee! holy shit i can drink for (almost) free. now, which bottle do i take???

no KB stuff today. official rest today. and the scale… DOWN another pound…

what’s with Californians and putting avocado in EVERYTHING
