Its about time something happened, he give out so much bad (nutrition) advice, i cant stand to even watch his show anymore.
So he recommended green tea extract for fat loss, some folks with no association with him make inflated claims on it’s power to take advantage of gullible buyers, and now he has to testify in front of people who probably have as much knowledge of nutritional science as the people who fell for those claims. Or am I missing something?
I have feathers…who has tar??
Its gona be a party!
nothing more important they should be worrying about? nothing at all??
I think his use of the term “miracle” is where he went wrong. Rather, if he said that along with a sound nutrition and exercise program, these products can aid in losing weight and gaining health. It’s all in the delivery.
I think overall hes just a bag of shit when it comes to this stuff.
Anyone Oprah has picked up and made famous has turned out to be extremely successful but overall a liar, con, thief and joke. Oreman and Phil included.
I think his wife had a large role in his success behind the scenes and her father probably had a tie in as well.
You cant have a woman so obese they had to get larger couches for her set select people to offer health advise. Phil has his own health book and Oz bad a butt polyp, and people listen?
Speaking as a dentist, I can tell you that the few shows he has done on dental related matters have been completely full of shit. He brings up arguments that have been soundly disproven by volumes of scientific research over many years. He throws out quack theories that have no scientific basis. I expect better from him since he should have more respect for the scientific method due to his extensive education. He is dangerous.

I would imagine that most who deal with patients in a healthcare capacity are very well aware of the Oz Effect.
One of the major rules of retail pharmacy is that if a customer comes in asking about a supplement or remedy you’ve never heard of, they want it on the recommendation of Oz. This phenomenon has come up in conversation with numerous others in the medical field with much agreement/amusement/exasperation.
You’d likely be surprised at how downright sheepish some become when asked if that’s where they heard about it, too… fwiw.
Here is the thing, we all know he isn’t the idiot, there is an entire team making this guy into what he is. A group of people took a Turk and turned him into a super star for fuck knows reason. This is what is really tickling me. The fake that gets manufactured. But for what? Why?..

Oz did his undergraduate studies at Harvard before pursuing his MBA/MD; he is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Columbia University.
You really wonder why people would make a health show starring an individual who is heavily credentialed, published (academically and commercially), charismatic, and physically passable (I wouldn’t call him overtly “handsome,” but he’s definitely not off-putting)?
What’s so “fake” about him, besides the shilling (not sure if I would even call it that, since I don’t know if he hawks specific brands)?
Admittedly, I’ve only seen clips of his show, but I’m inclined to believe he isn’t so much of a “laughing his way to the bank” huckster as he is simply playing the role he was assigned. While he might not wholeheartedly believe in each weekly panacea, I think he is just another slave to daytime TV’s fascination with infotainment and quick fixes.
You don’t get syndicated by dedicating an hour a day to telling people to simply eat less and move more… you also don’t piss off Oprah after she goes out of her way to brand you a superstar.
Of course, I’m sure most here would NEVER “sell out” and endorse products they don’t stand behind 110% for millions and millions of dollars annually… but, at the end of the day, I’d bet his show sends more positive messages out into the world than negative ones.
Youre statement kind of contradicts the argument. If he is medically SO knowledgeable, so awarded, so professional, why is pretty much everyone tearing him a part, especially for making outlandish claims and false reports? I really don’t care where the degree is coming from and who he hand jobbed to get what position and fraud is a fraud.
If you read from people who have had bad experiences on his show you would hear that his producers and the BIG O are running the show. He stands there and does his dance. But now hes in trouble because his name is on the show. So youre partly right.
His background means nothing to me. Just a vegan and a stage selling bullshit in a bottle.
Can we get some examples?
So far he is a con, thief, liar, gives out bad advice, makes outlandish claims and false reports, brings up arguments that have been soundly disproved by volumes of scientific research over many years and throws out quack theories that have no scientific basis.

You cant be serious?? For tons and tons of money obviously. Thats why anything and everything gets manufactured (See: Reality Television)
Its precisely because he is so credentialed that everyone is tearing him apart. Its one thing for Jenny McCarthy to give out medical advice but its entirely different if a Doctor does it because there is the weight of assumed legitimacy to it, people assume he has done the research and is not selling them a bill of goods… “Surely HE wouldnt lie to us, He’s a doctor for crying out loud.”
While I dont wish the guy any jail time, he deserves whatever comes to him financially and legally for selling his bullshit the way he has been for years now. He admitted that he is recommending stuff that “does not pass scientific muster” … If thats your criteria for recommending stuff, ANYTHING GOES.
It’s about damn time this stuff started getting some recognition as its nearly impossible for a doctor to get in trouble for peddling BS (much less actually practicing dangerously), and while I would much rather have asshats like Dr Burzynski (giving people urine derived potions to “cure” their cancer… Works worse than placebo), you have to start somewhere and unfortunately he is the face of this kind of behaviour at the moment.
If you position yourself on top of the heap, prepare for both all the good and all the bad that comes with it. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Although it is kind of interested that out of ALL the stuff he has talked about in the past, they finally take him to task about… Diet pills.
It’s like the steroids and Baseball thing all over again. Government didnt give a crap until little Johnny might be hurt. Replace little Johnny with Housewife Harriet and its the same thing.

Sure, I’ll give just a few here:
-He lends legitimacy and even recommends people go see PSYCHIC MEDIUMS in place of licensed therapists in times of despair… With the ever present “Alt Med Miranda Rights” that you should of course seek professional help as well: Dr. Oz for Senate
-He lets people on his show that have absolutely no business giving medical advice, and often times give bad advice, completely unchallenged. Here is Faith Healer Issam Nemah who endoreses basically every non-science idea there is: Dr. Oz for Senate
-
More Psychic medium bullshit… Show titled “The Long Island Medium on CURING ANXIETY” with Oz endorsing the idea that contacting our dead can cure anxiety disorders: The Diagnosis Doctors Miss Most: Thyroid Disease - The Dr. Oz Show
-
Hailed Dr Mercola as a brave maverick doctor that is a “pioneer of alternative treatments” and the doctor “Your doctors dont want you listening to” and completely uncritically allowed him free reign on his show to discuss why he is on the right side of the “civil war” going on in modern medicine today: Dr. Oz for Senate (he’s been on the show TONS, while obviously he has legitimate ideas it would take a year to lay out the amount of bullshit he spouts and endorses)
-
Promoting the idea that ANGELS can be of medical benefit: Does a Belief In Angels Have the Power to Heal? - The Dr. Oz Show (caution, this clip may cause extreme anger)
-
Generally promotes nearly every kind of alternative therapy for which there is either no evidence or directly negative scientific evidence (Accupunture, reiki, all forms of “energy healing”, Crystal Therapy, Chakra Healing, the list goes ON AND ON), or just a general lack of even scientific plausibility (Homeopathy)
-
Routinely has on completely unqualified guests or guests who are well known quacks and is completely uncritical of the ideas they put out. Including Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra, Mercola, Psychics, mediums, Ayurvedic “healers”, herbalists, homeopaths, etc… Basically anyone who more than 3 people have ever heard of he gives a megaphone to to spout their bullshit.
Here is a link to his site with the tag Alternative Health… Basically click on any video and prepare for misinformation: http://www.doctoroz.com/topic/alternative-health?page=2&nid=14169
- And then just to make sure he is properly covering his ass he always makes sure he is JAQing off… Just Asking Questions. He isnt necessarily endorsing psyhics, he’s just asking the question that MAYBE they can help, maybe better than professional psych workers. Just Asking Questions that maybe some Angels can cure your anxiety, etc…
And heres another just because you made me rage enough to watch more of this guys shit. This clip basically presents everything I believe is wrong with the guy:
So here we have a guy who is full of shit, claims that all of us can be trained to “see our health issues” before medical tests can detect them and then says all we need to do is heal ourselves spiritually. He goes COMPLETELY unchallenged by Oz the entire show and is then completely legitimized by being allowed to make these vague guesses about people (abdominal issues on a young woman … wow, amazing) and then is told what people have and allowed to make a guess which has a 66% chance of being right.
So this guy walks off the show looking like a medical Jesus, and who even knows if the producers of the show were in on any of the segments? I’m privy to some BTS stuff that happens in TV shows due to the nature of my business relationships and I absolutely guarantee that it is not above producers to cook the show 100% to deliver a compelling product… Literally feeding lines to people to repeat verbatim on camera.
This segment is essentially a cookie cutter delivery of every single person he has on the show. Let them tell their story in the only the most positive manner, provide NO valid criticism, and then let them demonstrate their powers on an edited cut of the show that is most certainly going to come out positive because thats what keeps people watching.
I realize most of the show is likely done by producers, but at some point the guy who has his name on the show has to accept responsibility and stand up for reality.
Other than that I have no feelings about the guy
Watched the clips and had a lengthy response typed up but… I really don’t want to spend my day watching clips of/arguing about Dr. Oz.
As you touched upon: good luck having a successful, longstanding daytime talk show when all you do is tell people to eat less, move more and focus on natural foods. And good luck getting people to come on your show if you have a consistent history of shitting all over pasts guests and their ideas. And good luck finding a large enough target audience with the inclination to follow a scientifically-rigorous discussion in between Maury and Steve Wilkos to follow such a show.
Oz is just a pretty puppet for produces to make dance for ratings and money, and I think he is just another slave to daytime TV’s fascination with infotainment and quick fixes. Given that neither he nor his guests ever advocated (from what I saw) eschewing proper medical attention in favor of their services, all I can really say is caveat emptor. Sure, he’s a doctor, but his show is also sandwiched between baby-daddy paternity feuds and commercials for ambulance chasing attorneys, so come the fuck on.
I’m curious as to how his show has evolved over the years, if it started off a little more centered and underwent increasing degrees of thematic Flanderization once the produces realized what was getting the ratings.
hips: as an ardent advocate and practitioner of BioSignature Modulation, what would you say the big difference between Dr. Oz and Charles “Anabolic Mango” Loliquin is?
Just wondering.

Thank you for getting it.
hips: I summarized Oz’s credentials to illustrate WHY a group of people chose “a Turk” for a national television program focusing on blending entertainment with health-related topics… there was no manufacturing or “faking” going on with why they chose him.
If HE doesn’t fit the mold, who the hell does?
As for why the show even exists, at all: money. Duh.
