Has anybody read the book “The New Power Program - Protocols For maximum Strength”. If you have what is your opinion of the book and the protocols he puts forward. I am thinking of buying the book and would like to know if it is worth the money.
Thanks.
I know nothing abot the book or his program, but just as a suggestion, why not buy the book as an exercise in critical thinking? Personally, I’ve never found it necessary to agree with a book’s point of view in order to buy it.
Charles, thanks for the advice. I never really thought about it that way. Critical thinking is one of those skills that I really should devlop more.
I saw the book and looked through it. Not bad actually. Admittely I didn’t give it much more that a brief scan. I was also thinking of getting it. The one thing that I found funny was a picture of some guy in there claiming to bench like 900lbs or something like that.

I have the book and have read through it a few times. I would say that apart from a few interesting variations on exercises, it is pretty run-of-the-mill. As you probably know, Colgan’s more noted for his nutritional advice, although he has apparently trained a few top-level athletes as well. The book is comprehensive in that it covers flexibility, nutrition, psychology as well as the actual training programs. I found a few gems (most notably exercise variations and some nutrition info), but the rest of the book was fairly unremarkable. Hope that helps
