You might look into using wrist wraps to stiffen up your wrists if they’re hurting for squats. I use them all the time with heavy weights.
Pfffft… like you’d know anything about heavy weights…
I have a better idea.
How about using wrist wraps to stiffen up your wrists if they’re hurting for squats. Great idea, isn’t it?
I can see the future and it looks like a tiger is going to get his ass handed to him by a crazy powerlifting broad!! :P
She’s not going to hand it too him. She’s going to keep his ass for parking her bike.
I’ll give you a third on wrist wraps. I do the same as pmpm and use them squatting heavy.

How’s the diet coming along, Cara?
I will be honored the day someone calls me that. That or screaming chalk user!! LOL.
There is no real “diet”. I have been eating alot less then I used to but I have to watch myself when I’m with my family. They are chonic take out people. Now I just go home and it’s not a problem.
10 warm up and squat stretches before I got under the bar.
Squat:
2 45 6
3 65 6
2 85 6
4 95 3
2 85 6
3 65 6
In the beginning I was still tired from yesterday’s DLing but saw something that pissed me off and it worked to my advantage. This is the first time I’ve gone to 95.

In a few minutes, I am on vacation!! People think I’m crazy that the highlight of my week will be trying out a new gym. (^:
I like our gym–no waiting! But I hear you. Are you going somewhere fun for vacation? I am excited because I will be taking my first real vacation in years next month. I used up all my vacation days over several years caring for my husband, and then recovering after his death (2.5 years ago now). I had a vacation scheduled for the end of March, and ended up moving unexpectedly. I would rather work than move.

I know, I am quite jealous of people who have home gyms!! I’m not going anywhere this time but I might in a few weeks. I’ve never even been on a plane. I hope this new gym that I am trying out is better then the one I am going to now. So are you going anywhere good on your vacation?!?!

I am flying from Montana to Denver. My boyfriend is there for the summer. We will drive back to Montana together, and plan to take a week or so to do it. We will spend some time in Yellowstone/Grand Teton, and might go to his niece’s wedding in Idaho. Nothing truly exciting, but fun nonetheless.

Road trip, awesome!! It’s good that you get to take a vacation now after all you’ve been through.
So today I checked out a new gym. I will post my workout later, it was lower than usual. But I had a few beers last night to celebrate vacationtime. And the equipment they had was alot newer and I’m not a fan of change. And no precor, gasp!! Only one squat rack, something that looked like it might be a power rack, and two benches. Plenty of free weights and stuff. I will have to go at different times over the next week so see what’s up.
No mirrors at the squat rack. That will be different. And alot of silver hairs but maybe because I was there at 9:30 in the morning. Going to a different gym makes you feel like you are on a different planet!!

I don’t recall you asking if you could take ANOTHER vacation, Toots…

These benches didn’t have the hooks that I am used to and that messes with my head. I was out of gas by the end, I was struggling with the 65 at the end.
Seated row:
1 40 8
2 55 8
3 70 8
Bicep curl:
2 30 8
1 40 6
1 40 4…effin fail. I even took the 30 bar and tried to squeeze out 5 more and I failed again on the 4th rep.
Notes: 30 min of the treadmill after. The signs all over the gym gave me a chuckle. Signs like “Don’t drop the weights on the floor unless you are hurt. If you have to, it means you are lifting too much weight.” I’m not kidding!! I can imagine some of the girls here ripping those signs off the wall and stuffing them down someone’s thoat. hehe. I’m still going to go back a few more times to check things out.
So I woke up this morning and was actually sore in the chest area. I thought that was kind of weird because I didn’t even go up to 105. Now I’m starting to wonder if the bar is heavier at this other gym. I don’t know why I just can’t let things go.
Anyways, I did 45 min of the precor this morning. I think while I’m on vacation I am going to lift every other day rotating deadlift, squat then back to bench.

It is possible the bar is heavier. I often screw up when I load my weights. The other day I used the wrong plates–we have itty bitty ones that with the collars make the appollon’s axle 30 lbs. I accidentally used the 2.5’s instead, so was lifting two pounds more than I thought I was. Should not have made that much difference but it DID!
And then there was the time I was totally exhausted from lack of sleep, and then got to the gym really really late, and loaded my sled for the leg press. I did ok at the lower weights, then I loaded it to 280. It was ok. Then I loaded it to 330 and thought it seemed a little light. Yeah, well, I had loaded the plates where the extra plates were and NOT on the sled itself. The weight does not count unless you move it, hahahahaha.
Hm. Seems like my lifting partner accidentally loaded the bar to 85 instead of 75 the other day when we were benching. She could not even push it up and she was very irritated with herself until it dawned on me she had used 10s instead of 5s when she loaded…she was relieved to say the least, when the 75 went up pretty easily!
Hey, this is why I am a librarian and not a mathmetician!
Yeah, I’ve had the “accidental PR” – it shows how much is psychological.
But maybe it’s technique. Mine is probably messed up for bench: I can never feel it in my chest, more in my shoulders. Maybe you’re hitting your chest especially well?

I am usually pretty good at numbers. At first, I could remember my whole workout but now I have to put it in my phone as I go. I remember once I was on the leg press and I didn’t realize plates were loaded over the sled. That would have been a bad scene!!
