Don't Look Back

Thanks guys for the support. Usually this stuff doesn’t really bother me too much. I was totally caught off guard by this person. The thing that amazed me the most was her claim that she used to do this sort of thing and now she much better off. She must not have enjoyed it much in the first place is the only thing I can come up with.

Today’s workout:

5 min warm up and stretching

Deadlift:
2 65 8
2 85 6
2 95 6
2 105 5
2 115 5
2 125 3
2 135 3
2 95 6
1 95 8

Notes: 20 min of cardio after cause I ran out of time. I am wiped out, I need to rest up for the weekend. Hoping to do some bench, but I’m tired of waking up in pain in the middle of the night. I am going to the doctor’s next month so hopefully I’ll get some answers. Meanwhile I will be checking out the prehab stuff around here. (^:

So today I had an interesting encounter with a friend who usually has good advice for me. We were talking about weightlifting and she said all this stuff like “You don’t need to left heavy weights like that, you’re not a man” and “You shouldn’t be lifting more then 50 pounds” (???)

She was even like “You don’t want to get big arms, they should be toned”. I had to say like five times that I wasn’t going to the gym for looks, I like what I’m doing there. And she even said that she used to do this sort of thing and now she saw the light. Needless to say, I probably won’t be talking to her anymore. At least I have something to be pissed off about tomorrow morning at the gym.

The word “toned” just really pisses me off, much less the rest of that.

She’s not a “friend”. Friends support each other in their adventures, not tear each other down.[/quote]

1OO percent right.

Some people don’t understand that it’s about the love of just being in the gym, progressing and getting better. It’s more for sanity, than vanity.

Great job on the deadlifts!

Thanks! I have to focus on something else besides my bench fetish!! (:

Today’s workout:

10 min warm up and a boat load of stretching and tennis ball love beforehand

Squat:
2 65 8
2 85 6
2 95 6
1 105 6
2 115 6
1 125 6
2 115 6
2 95 6
1 95 8

Leg extension:
1 85 6
1 95 6
2 100 6
1 105 6
1 105 5

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I switched things up a bit and stuck with 6 reps. I worked on a different rack and I’m beginning to get more comfortable with the weight on my back. This time I kept my headphones on the whole time when usually I have to ditch them once I cross 100 lbs. When I film myself you guys are going to be quite bored because I’m pretty sure it takes me a good minute to start my reps. I will try to do it next Friday because the weight area is usually dead in the morning during the week. Now I have to figure out how to do videos on my camera. hehe.

Good Lord that is a lot of squats!

I know, I am feeling it now!! I only do them once a week so I usually go all out. (:

Trust me, we are easily entertained.

Those squat numbers are fantastic!

Today’s workout:

10 min warm up and stretching

Bench:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 85 6
2 95 6
1 95 5

Deadlift:
2 65 8
3 85 5
4 95 5

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I was wiped after yesterday’s squats and I kept my bench light but still was shaky on the last set of 95. I know it’s all in my head but ever since I got pinned at 125, the two times I have benched have not been as good as before that. My deadlifts were suckish but I am going to do them again on Wed so it wasn’t a big deal. I’m hoping I won’t have too much pain in my shoulder/arm area this week so I can move on. (:

Oh and thanks kimba! You are the best cheerleader around here!!

It is incredibly easy to cheerlead for gals that are putting up bench numbers I only dream about.

Ask a random weight-room-dude for a spot on 125 next time. A tiny lil’ confidence-booster will get you past that hurdle.

If you ever saw the clowns at my gym, you would rather be pinned!! When someone who looks somewhat cool (but you can never be sure) is around I don’t need them. It’s not that I am that stuck up, I just don’t have much time for small talk and I would feel obligated.

Funny story. Some big dude asked me to spot him on the seated overhead press?!?! I’m pretty sure he was putting me on but whatever. I’m glad I didn’t have to save him because I probably would have fell on my ass.

Today’s workout:

10 min warm up and stretching

Deadlift:
2 65 8
2 85 6
2 95 6
2 105 6
3 115 6
2 95 6
1 95 8

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I feel sorry for the gals at work. They prob think I’m acting like a snatch even though I got to come in late, but I’m just in a Surge coma. (:

I thought the same thing as kmc, that dude was hitting on you. It has come to my attention that some guys actually LIKE the sweaty gym-rat look. After all the money we spend on clothes/makeup/beauty salons – go figure???

I’m still looking forward to your vids. You promised!

I personally think that acting like a snatch is a good thing.

Nice work as usual, Toots.
