For some reason I wanted to squat again. I haven’t done any lifting since Monday so it really didn’t matter. I watched some of a video on how to squat and I wanted to see if I already put this stuff into play. Like driving with your heels. I found that I start out with power in my heels but then I lose it on the way up. I tried a few sets with 2 1/2 plates under the balls of my feet and that just distracted me. Practice, practice, practice.
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. My stamina sucks right now cause usually cardio flies by and the last few times it was suckish. I’m taking too many chances with not getting enough sleep and I ran out of fish oil two weeks ago. I didn’t bother going up to 125 because I was working on my form.
I’m working on my squat form too. Its sort of hurtful, but it must be done. There is nothing as helpful as filming yourself. Cringe-worthy, but helpful.

Oh, I’d LOVE to get massages. But no.

I go once a month to get a massage and she beats the tar out of me. It’s so worth it!! Tomorrow is the day in fact. I will have to drill someone who works at the gym and find out when it’s dead so I can practice filming myself and figuring which angle is best.
These were shaky due to last times pin job when I got stuck under the 125. But better then nothing considering the state of pain I was in this week.
Deadlift:
3 65 6
3 85 6
2 95 6
1 95 8
2 65 8
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I felt good with the DLing and I had no problem keeping force in my heels, unlike the squats yesterday. I am going to rest up and do a full DL workout on Wed, hopefully I can pull 135. (^:

I don’t know if this will help, but perhaps try focusing on what you are leading with (eyes up, chest up, elbows driven forward) and the rest of your body will fall in line to support that drive.

I will give that a try. BTW, I love your avatar!!! Last week when the Pats were playing, I didn’t realize they were in red. This is only my third year watching, I’m getting schooled in football.
Notes: return to the gym after 5 days of dealing with a sick kid and being sick myself. 30 min of cardio after. It took all my willpower not to do any benching. I am going to squat tomorrow and see how things go with my arm during the week. I felt alittle weaker then usual but still made it through. (^:
EDIT: The other thing I wanted to say is that I am having trouble with the mixed grip when DLing. I am more comfortable with my arms going the same way. Is everyone else doing mixed grip and I’m just a tard?!?!
I just started with mixed grip for the heavier weights and it messed with me for awhile, too. ANd Iused straps for the first time last week ant that REALLY threw me for a loop. New stuff takes time to feel natural.

I really like the classic uniforms. I’m learning the football thing too but I love it and get withdrawal out of season. I got to go to a couple of Cowboys games last year in Dallas, not my team, but still a lot of fun. Also re: the Pats, I sort of miss Matt Cassel.

There’s no necessity to mix it if your grip strength is sufficient for the weight you can pull now, unless you just want to get used to it, because eventually you will probably need it.

That’s why I was trying it out. I know down the road I will have to use the mixed grip. Once I learn something one way it’s hard for me to change. It’s making me mental!!
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I found when I unracked the weight and took my time and got used to the weight on my back I was much better off. And I wasn’t even at my usual rack. I will have to go back and look but I’m pretty sure this is the first time I did full DLing and squatting on the same weekend and I am worn out. In a good way.
Nice job on the PR! One of the many, many variables in this weight training gig is when to train what lifts. Since two of my “normal” gym days are Friday/Sunday, I often end up on this same exact DL/squat schedule.
So today I had an interesting encounter with a friend who usually has good advice for me. We were talking about weightlifting and she said all this stuff like “You don’t need to left heavy weights like that, you’re not a man” and “You shouldn’t be lifting more then 50 pounds” (???)
She was even like “You don’t want to get big arms, they should be toned”. I had to say like five times that I wasn’t going to the gym for looks, I like what I’m doing there. And she even said that she used to do this sort of thing and now she saw the light. Needless to say, I probably won’t be talking to her anymore. At least I have something to be pissed off about tomorrow morning at the gym.

The word “toned” just really pisses me off, much less the rest of that.
She’s not a “friend”. Friends support each other in their adventures, not tear each other down.
