good job tootles.
Thanks for being my cheerleaders!!! Getting ready to head off to the gym for bench day. (^:
Today’s workout:
6 min warm up
Bench:
2 65 8
1 85 5
1 95 5
1 110 5
1 115 3
1 125 1…PR but pinned on the 2nd rep.
1 115 3
1 105 5
3 95 5
2 85 6
Ham curl:
2 55 6
2 60 6
2 65 6
2 70 6
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. So I needed to be saved on my 2nd rep on the 125. This is my first time and it wouldn’t have been so bad but a guy came running over and said he could tell it was going to happen when he saw the first rep. ::ego deflates::
I know days like this are going to happen but I hate it. If there is no failure then you are not trying hard enough but I a part of me can’t help but to think I could have done better if I got more rest. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
I’ve never been pinned, but solely because I’m too wussy to bench without a spotter. Props to you for going balls out to try it!
Betcha you could get 120 without incident.

You know this already but I’m just reinforcing it. There’s no shame in trying and failing. Getting pinned proves you took it to your limit at that moment. Good for you. As we saying on ski days, if you’re not falling down you’re not trying hard enough!

Ah, you done good, Toots. You busted ass and that’s all you can do. Move on.
Arachne, are those rattlesnakes having sex in your avatar? If it’s not, then i’m going to feel a little stupid…

In real life I am quite anti social so I’ve only had a spotter once. It’s always a project to find the 2 1/2 plates, that only seem to around when you don’t need them!!

I know, maybe this lifting stuff will help me get rid of this ego problem that I have. (^:

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself:(
Cara, have you made ANY adjustments to your diet at all?
I’m just curious, because I know how you were eating, so I was wondering if it’s been a factor in your training either way…

Hmm, I’m not sure what you mean. I only time I used to have an extra meal was when I was drinking and when I cut way back it really hasn’t been an issue. (^:
I am hitting the gym tomorrow instead of today. I had a family party last night and had a blast but now it’s time to get down to business with lifting. Yesterday my arm/shoulder area was quite sore but today it gone. This happens everytime I go up in weight on my bench so it’s just something I will have to live with.
do you do any shoulder pre-hab work? I added face pulls and YTWL (now LYTP) to my lifting warmup, and my shoulder troubles have gone away

No, not yet but I will definitely jump on that bandwagon!! I will look again on kmc’s thread cause those things you mentioned must be there.
Today’s workout:
6 min warm up and stretches
Squat:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 85 6
2 95 6
2 105 5
2 115 5
2 95 5
Deadlift:
2 65 8
3 85 6
Notes: 25 long ass minutes of cardio. After a weekend of bonfires and people who smoke, I was feeling pretty wiped out. Thankfully this doesn’t happen much. Squatting wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be so that made my day!!

What I mean is; as you progress, your diet is going to have more of an impact on your progress and nervous system.
The quantity and quality of nutrients will help your recovery along with keeping your joints healthy.
So the past two days my shoulder/arm has been bothering me. Again. I’ve had alot on my mind and even though it’s good stuff, I’ve had trouble sleeping and I’ve been sleeping on my arm wrong. I’ve been a slacker with the soft tissue work also. My next bench day I might keep fairly light depending on how I feel.

Sleep injuries suck. Sometimes I tweak my neck in my sleep and then am so sore I can barely turn my freakin’ head.

Do you get massages? It definitely helps. (^:
