Don't Look Back

Today’s workout:

7 min warm up and stretching

Squat:
2 45 8
2 65 5
3 95 5
2 105 3
2 115 3
2 125 3 not a real PR but getting closer to big wheels!
2 95 5
1 75 6
1 75 8

Close grip bench:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 75 6

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. The wrist straps are definitely making me more confident and helping with the soreness afterwards. Last night I was reading the first two pages of my thread and what a difference a few months make. Again, my numbers aren’t going to break any records but I can do alot more than before.

Another thing that surprises me is the quality of my life. I always had alot of negativity and anger in the past and I always wondered if the desire to lift heavy shit would still be there if it ever disappeared. Well these last few months I’ve reconnected with family I haven’t seen in over 20 years (long ass story) and it feels good to finally be at peace. And I want to be at the gym more then ever. End of mushy story/ (^:[/quote]

All that, and people say that lifting only works your muscles… It’s more than that.

That’s great to hear, Cara. I’ve noticed the change in the past few months and it’s nice to hear you a little mushy. But, please don’t make it a habit, ok?

Nice improvements on the lifts, too.

Don’t worry…I’m back to my shit bag self! (^:

hey, tootles, I haven’t stalked you before, but I’ve noticed your avatar on O’s thread before. Your lifts have been kicking ass comparing recent posts to your inaugural post. Great improvements!

about the lifting/quality-of-life thing, the thing i always liked about the iron is that its always there for you, like good ice cream. Sometimes its celebratory, sometimes its mournful, sometimes just effing angry. but it will always be there for you.

I think this is awesome and very important to recognize. But then I AM a big mushball. On the other hand, I am very annoyed with your 125 squat, because now I have to try to squat that today to keep up. I was going to just increase reps on my 115 PR. Have a great day!

Thanks! You can stalk anytime! It is like ice cream minus the bad news for my butt. (^:

You will catch up in no time! Once I hit 135, I am going to increase my reps too. I will check your log later to see how it went. (^:

Today’s workout:

5 min warm up and did a few sets of lat pulldowns

Deadlift:
1 45 8
2 65 6
3 85 5
2 95 5
2 105 5
3 95 8
4 75 8

Notes: Once I realized nothing over 105 was going to happen, I increased the reps since I wouldn’t have time for anything else. Even though it was a short workout, I feel like it was still better then anything that would happen after work, which is usually a suck time for me.

Today’s workout:

7 min warm up

Bench:
1 45 8
1 65 6
2 95 5
1 105 5
1 115 3
1 115 4
3 95 5

I decided to not do all bench today. I feel like I’m skating on thin ice if I continue to push at the same volume all the time. So I will do this type of workout every once in awhile to give my right shoulder/bicep area a break.

Deadlift:
1 45 8
1 65 8
1 65 5
2 85 5
1 95 5
1 95 8
1 85 6
1 85 8

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. Mostly I threw the DL’s in there to practice form because that’s the lift I started doing last.

Today’s workout:

5 warm up and a buttload of stretching

Squat:
1 45 8
1 65 6
2 85 5
2 95 5
2 105 5
1 115 5
2 125 5
2 115 5
1 95 5
1 95 7 was going for 8 but…

I not sure what my problem was today but I was easily distracted. I caught myself looking at my form a few times instead of looking for the feeling in my head for depth. Still wasn’t a horrible workout but meh…

Tri pulldown:
1 70 6
1 85 6
4 100 6
1 85 8

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. This week I will have plenty of time to go to the gym and then there is even a long weekend!! I’m going into work late on Wed and Fri so I will be able to do full workouts.

Whew!! Thank god!!

I’m always looking at my form when I squat. Now considering the possibility that being distracted from the feeling of the lift is a result of keeping a visual on the form…hmmm.

Nice job on the 125#! You’ve got me beat.

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, taping the lifts is much better then trying to watch yourself. I was trying to figure out how to set up my camera but haven’t been gutsy enough to bring it with me. I think I’m afraid I will forget it and it will be taken.

Considering you weigh alot less than me, you are doing great. This weekend I might try some singles or at least walkouts with 135.

EDIT: I didn’t even realize O already said to tape your lifts…alittle slow for a Monday morning!!

Earlier this summer I brought my camera to the weight room and taped some deadlifts. I picked a time when I knew that very few people were around so I wouldn’t feel so self-conscious about it. Trust me, you won’t forget the camera as it will be impossible to ignore it!

Today’s workout:

5 min warm up and stretching

Deadlift:
1 45 8
1 65 8
2 85 5
2 95 5
1 105 5
2 115 5
2 135 3 Woohoo!! Major PR!!
1 115 5
2 95 5
1 95 8

I have to go back and look but I’m pretty sure the highest I’ve gone before today is either 105 or 115. It’s been a crazy morning so I’m surprised I did so well. I had to leave the gym after my DLing and drive my daughter to the bus stop because it was her first day of school. 8th grade might give me gray hairs…

Bicep curl:
2 30 8
2 40 6

Notes: 30 min of cardio after. People were looking at me funny cause they saw me leave and then I was back to rack my weights and finish up. Most of the clowns leave shit everywhere.

EDIT: It was 105 before today.

Wow that’s huge! A 30 lb jump and five reps too? That’s awesome!

Now, that’s what I call breaking through to a big PR. Congratulations!

Thanks guys!! I mean gals…

I think in my head I was thinking of my squat numbers which are closer to 135. It’s funny cause they flew up just because I wasn’t stressing about it. I know I can handle more weight but I need to keep (what I think is)good form.

Congrat’s you have worked hard for every pound of that PR!!!

Always progressing whenever I peek in on you…thats great to see!!

Nice work on the PR!!!

its cool to put some weight on the bar
