Have you tried using something behind you( a ‘box’) to gauge depth?

That’s how I started a few months ago but I found myself checking out the bench behind me instead of looking up. I know I have to jump on the program bandwagon but I really like focusing on the big lifts. I’m sure there must be some out there like that.
Today’s workout:
8 min warm up
Bench:
2 45 8
1 65 8
2 85 6
1 95 5
1 105 3
2 115 3 wrist straps
2 95 5
1 85 6
1 85 5
2 65 8
Tri pulldown:
2 70 8
3 85 5
2 100 5
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I was happy with my bench. It didn’t feel as hard as the squats after the long break. I think I will squat again tomorrow because I hate a crappy workout hanging over my head. And the fact that benching then DLing on back to back days will not have me breaking any records.
I am really happy to get back into the gym, even one full of weirdo stalkers!! Once I put more then 25 lbs on each side for benching, the guys circle me like hawks because I think they think they are going to save me or something. I am always extra careful so I don’t have to call on them. And I always feel guilty and shy away from the people who are really there to workout because I don’t want to interrupt them.

Oh yeah, right here. I totally understand. I just like going in and doing whatever the heck I want to. I MAY have an opportunity to train under a female powerlifter at our new gym though, crossing fingers.

Lucky!!! I would like to just be in the gym the same time as a female powerlifter!! I have yet to find out where all the cool kids hang out, it might take awhile since I’m not that social.
Today’s workout:
8 min warm up and stretches
Squat:
2 45 8
2 65 6
2 85 6
2 95 5
1 105 3
1 115 3 yipee!
1 115 5
2 95 5
2 85 6
1 65 6
1 65 8
Leg extension:
1 85 6
2 90 6
2 100 6
Leg curl:
1 55 6
2 60 6
1 65 6
1 70 6
Notes: wore the wrist straps for 95 and over. These felt really good today. I think I found the right place to put the bar on my back. I think it was too low before and that’s why my wrists felt awkward. Everything felt in place. Tomorrow I have a massage so this was the perfect time to kick myself in the ass. 30 min of cardio after.

I found this gym on the internet. It is freaking awesome… it’s called “The T-Man Fitness Factory” and it is pretty much exactly that. They have a whole slew of powerlifters and guys who do strongman stuff. There is a push/pull meet next week I’m going to attend and try and meet people. I was there from 4-5 yesterday and all of the men were enormous, except for a couple of old guys, and the two women (who looked to be in their 40s) were jacked too. The funniest part was when the guy showing us around was like, “Over there’s the cardio area, but nobody really uses that.”

Sounds fantastic! I am so jealous. I have one more place to check out around here before I get desperate and trek into Boston to check out some real action.

Deadlift:
2 45 8
2 65 6
3 85 6
2 95 6
2 105 5 yipee!
1 105 6
3 85 6
2 65 8
Notes: On my last set of 105, I thought I would be a hero and do an extra rep and my back rounded. Poo. At least all my lifts are over 100 now. 30 min of cardio after.
Excellent on the deadlift! Keep going. ![]()
Hey there. Just checking in on you. That’s a crap ton of volume you’re doing. It makes me want to nap…or eat.

I know, I’m a sucker for self punishment. I think the only thing saving me is the fact that it usually works out that I’m doing each lift once a week and I’m just eating regular instead of dieting. Nobody wants to see this wacked out broad on a diet!!
A few days ago I had a massage and she went so deep that I felt like I was drunk driving home. Every once in awhile it happens but goes away after I eat or drink a ton of water.
Keep it up!

Thanks, mom in MD!!
Today’s workout:
6 min warm up and stretching
Bench:
2 45 8
1 65 5
2 85 5
2 95 5
1 105 3
4 115 3 toast!!
2 95 5
2 75 6
1 65 8
Bicep curl:
2 30 6
2 40 6
1 40 8
Notes: I really wanted to get over 115 today but when it was time, there was no one in the weight area to come save me if needed. It continues to stun me that the gym is not crowded at 7am. I think people don’t have a job because there’s more people at 10 or 11am. My back is alittle angry from the other days DLing but I will rest up this weekend and hopefully it will forgive me!! 25 min of precor fun after. (^:
PS: Used wrist straps for 105 and 115.
I can’t believe you can bench as much as you squat and more than you deadlift. How the heck am I going to get my bench up there?? Nice job!

I am obsessed with my bench, and definitely the opposite of what others are doing around here. And I’ve been doing it longer then the other two lifts. I’m hoping to go up on my squat in the next few weeks and then focus on deadlifting.
I was reading Rhonda’s log and started doing close grip like her and it helped alot. And my triceps are monsters compared to others in the gym.
No lifting today, but I did go to the gym in the late afternoon for some cardio and to check out if there were different people there cause I never go at that time on the weekend. Nothing new. Squat day tomorrow!! Yipee skippy. (^:
Today’s workout:
7 min warm up and stretching
Squat:
2 45 8
2 65 5
3 95 5
2 105 3
2 115 3
2 125 3 not a real PR but getting closer to big wheels!
2 95 5
1 75 6
1 75 8
Close grip bench:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 75 6
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. The wrist straps are definitely making me more confident and helping with the soreness afterwards. Last night I was reading the first two pages of my thread and what a difference a few months make. Again, my numbers aren’t going to break any records but I can do alot more than before.
Another thing that surprises me is the quality of my life. I always had alot of negativity and anger in the past and I always wondered if the desire to lift heavy shit would still be there if it ever disappeared. Well these last few months I’ve reconnected with family I haven’t seen in over 20 years (long ass story) and it feels good to finally be at peace. And I want to be at the gym more then ever. End of mushy story/ (^:
