So I was shooting my mouth off in the Get a Life section and that’s the reason for my goofy avatar. I know teddy bears and lifting weights are a stretch but I was double dog dared. (^:
awwwww…such a cute pic! Hehe. Ohhh, the trouble the double dog dare got me into, in the past…someday, if I am feeling chatty, I will share the story how my mouthy little friend and her double dog daring getting me into a scrape, with benefit of numerous triple kamakazis, and a male softball team, all wearing green and white uniforms, and pinch hitting for one another. It is not a pretty story. Not pretty at all.
Awesome job on the bench, btw…[/quote]
You must tell this story!!

Thanks! I’m not sure why but I’m more comfortable pushing myself benching then the other two big lifts. It seems the opposite of everyone else!!
Today’s workout:
7 min warm up and stretching
Deadlift:
2 45 8
1 65 8…forgot the magic # of the day was 6
2 65 6
2 75 6
2 95 3
2 95 5
3 75 6
2 65 8
My form is getting better but it’s awkward because I don’t have big wheels yet. It’s more of a workout setting up so the bar is where it’s supposed to be on my shins when I start. But the 95 felt better with the 25 plates on. And it was a PR! Back in the day, I know I did some form of DL but not from the floor. My arm/shoulder area was sore last night but it held up pretty well today.
Tricep pulldown:
1 60 8
1 70 8
2 85 6
2 100 6
2 85 6
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I’m hoping to spread out the workout next week and then taking a week off. I have been going steady since the middle of April and I think the only reason I haven’t burnt out yet is because of the four days of rest that would happen sometimes due to work and life in general.
Nice work,
maybe you want to try taking the first rep out of the rack or off of blocks
for a few weeks.

I throw some 25 plates on the ground and lift off them. But when I put two 10 plates on each side they almost roll off. It’s like roller derby with my shins!! hehe. I usually go in the corner where the shoulder racks are so I don’t get bothered and the squat racks are taken by people doing curls.
Unrelated: So today I saw someone actually doing some serious squating. He got up to 295 which is more than I’ve seen anyone do there. It made my 50 min of cardio fly by. If he could see me watching him, he prob would have thought I was some kind of stalker. My plans for the gym next week might change due to a death in the family.
These past few weeks I’ve been reconnecting with my father’s (who passed away a long time ago) side of the family and his youngest sister had a heart attack and passed away last night. It’s sad when you find someone and all the sudden they are gone.
I am so sorry for your loss. My dad died unexpectedly a few years back. He had been living in Costa Rica with his new wife, and we had been talking for the first time in years. It still does not seem exactly real. Especially because it happened five months after my husband died. I do not think I had the mental energy to process my father’s death. I imagine sooner or later it will come crashing down.

Thank you. That’s awful for you that it happened so close together. I was told that I need to get a cardio stress test at the beginning of the year and now this is going to push me to do it.
Ok, Toots… It’s been almost 2 months since you’ve started this log, so are you happy with your results, so far?
How do these 2 months compare to how you were feeling, both mentally and physically, when you were, um, ‘less seasoned’?
Today’s workout:
8 min warm up and stretching. I did some extra stretching at home and I felt like it made a difference. I was planning on doing odds and ends today and squating on Tuesday but I had some steam to blow off.
Squat:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 85 6
2 95 5
2 105 5 finally broke into the 100’s!!
2 95 5
2 75 6
2 65 6
At first I was having a tough time getting into it and I was wondering if I made a mistake not going with my original plan. The first set of 95 felt really heavy and then I was fine. Weird how that happens. I ordered my wrist wraps and should have them by the time I am squatting again.
Leg extension:
2 80 6
1 85 6
1 90 6
1 95 6
2 100 6
Notes: 20 min of cardio after. Hopefully the sun stays out so I can look like I had a decent vacation!! (^:

How do you know how much seasoning I have?!?! LOL.
To me my turning point was in April when I cut back on drinking and decided I didn’t care what anyone had to say about my life. I’ve never really had my own interests since my daughter was born. For some reason, this time I knew things were going to be different.
I am happy with the weight I am pushing, even though I am still on the low end. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I not going to move up until I am confident my form is good. I feel like it is but after my week off, I am going to tape some lifts and ask for feedback. If it is somewhat good, I will go up in weight then.
Today’s workout:
10 min warm up. Sort of a mini workout today because my wrists are still sore from the other day. I know I probably pushed it but since I’m taking a break from lifting I thought it would turn out OK.
Bench:
1 45 8
2 65 6
2 85 6
2 95 6
2 105 5
2 95 5
2 85 5
2 65 8
Notes: 30 min of cardio after. I’m not sure if I am going to do one more day of DLing or if I am going to take a break now. I feel like the last few workouts ended on a good note and I should just leave it at that. But I know I will be itching to do something by the weekend!!

Because I stalk you.
So, what you’re saying is that you took control of your life and started to just think about what’s good for you, right? Good, you’ve earned the right to be a little selfish these days.
It’s all about prgress, Cara. You’re doing great.
My time off from the gym has been a bummer. I am super stressed with life in general. Tomorrow I’m heading up to Maine to spend some time with my family and I will probably go to the gym on Sunday for some cardio or DLing. (^:
Return to the gym! Woot!
Today’s workout:
Deadlift:
3 65 8
3 85 6
4 95 5
3 85 6
2 65 8
These felt good for the most part once I found my groove. My right hip was acting funny the last few days due to 5 hours worth of driving on Saturday but everything turned out OK.
Tri pulldown:
1 70 8
2 85 6
2 100 6
1 110 6
1 100 6
Notes: No cardio today because I am going to an amusement park today. Boy, did I miss the gym but I’m glad I timed it like that cause things were crazy this past week.
Waiting patiently for Tootles to return

I’m Back!!

Return to the gym (again). And yes, I waited for nine pages to post a kitty pic!!
8 min warm up and stretching
Squat:
2 65 8
1 65 6
2 75 6
2 85 6
2 95 6
2 85 6
1 65 6
1 65 8
These were tough. Then I realized I haven’t done them for over two weeks. I tried my new wrist straps for the higher (?) weights and they will take some getting used to. 30 min of cardio after.
Just saying hi!
HIIIII!!! ![]()
Thats a lot of darn reps for squattin…I think I counted 62 reps? ouch!!
How did you come up with that little scheme?

I think it ended up this way because I feel like I’m not really getting down in the first few sets and then I don’t want to stop. I like the kicking the crap out of myself part!! I definitely have to do more stretching and mobility so I can reach depth right off the bat.
