Donovan McNabb's Phone Call

I thought it was pretty damn funny when McNabb made this phone call on the NY Giant’s sideline. Has the world lost its sense of humor?

Yes. I don’t even know why it was a penalty.

In my (quite limited may I qualify) opinion most unsportsmanlike conduct calls seem to be based on an overly conservative standard. Sure, excess is immature, but if you have something to celebrate than it’s quite natural to express it. I thought it was quite funny.

You got to give credit to McNabb, he looks like he has a lot of fun when he plays the game.

If you let one bad apple make a phone call when he or she is chased out of bounds pretty soon the whole bunch is rotten.

He’s like a big kid out there…no…wait…that’s Favre.

Yeah, let me tell you a word that when used is one of my “Pet Peaves”. That word is “professionalism” or “unprofessional”. McNabb got excoriated by the sportscaster for his “unprofessional” behavior.

I hear these words at work in the corporate world and I know that those people considered most “professional” are fucking crashing bores who suck ass and tow the line.

I mean, Muhammed Ali used to act like a clown and thank goodness there wasn’t this type of shit going on when he was boxing.

Thank goodness for people like McNabb who don’t cop to this shit, though he did do a mea culpa when interviewed after the game. Sorry he got fined for it though.

Kinda ambivalent about the whole thing, but Joe Buck sucks.

Ultimately its the fans who call the shots.

All you have to do as fans is collectively start showing your displeasure to such calls and eventually the powers that be will review the rules or they will suffer monetarily.

The refs are only following the rules they are paid to.

i think it was rather unclassy. The Giants were beat at that point, way to rub it in.

I’m not a fan of either team, but I would have liked to see someone on the sidelines slam him.

It’s just tasteless. Same goes for TO, learn how to win.

Like the Giants fans last year screaming 18 and 1, 18 and 1? Yeah buddy. It was good to see the Giants lose. I guess the Giants are only capable of winning a super bowl once every 15 years whereas the Patriots had a legitimate dynasty in the early part of this decade winning three out of four. One lucky catch ended our chances at a fourth last year.

Signed “bitter Patriots fan that feels a bit less bitter now” ;0

He won it for his team! He deserved to make that phone call!

I did laugh when it happened…haha

Says the Redskins guy…

That’s the kind of crap that pisses off us faithful Eagles fans (apparently, I’m the only one up here in Pats territory). I grew up loving the Eagles and Pittsburgh, but I have no love lost for McNabb or Andy Reid. If they pull off a Superbowl win (ie if McNabb doesn’t choke in the coming games as per usual), then you can say I was wrong, but I think they should have gone with Garcia to replace McNabb when they had the chance.

Let them celebrate all they want… dont wanna see them celebrate? Stop them on the field just like you had to when you played in the streets with your friends…

If I were on the Giants sideline, he wouldn’t be playing in the NFC Championship Game due to a phone stuck up his ass…

I thought it probably deserved a penalty, since he was messing around on the other team’s bench. It wasn’t like he was out on the field or in the endzone or something.

That said, I did think it was funny, and I enjoy it when people flaunt their competitive nature. To me, the big travesty of the season was Wes Welker getting fined for the snow angel. THat was bullshit.

Touchdown celebrations used to be hilarious, and the douchebag commentators who pontificate on how “that’s not what the game is about” or whatever should shove it. I’ll never forget Randy Moss pretending to moon the Green Bay crowd or someone (Chad Johnson?) holding up the sign that said “Please NFL, don’t fine me again!”

EDIT: Here’s a video I found.

Agree totally. It was humorous, original, and not a big deal.
