He’s not a classless guy and this will be his 5th NFC title game, let the guy have a little fun, they just beat the defending super bowl champions in the playoffs. I’m not an eagles fan but come on now, this isn’t an every week occurrence like Chad Johnson used to do.
if you win, you get to do whatever you want
Think about this in the context of other pro sports. I’ve seen guys in the NBA do the same thing. MLB, NHL, Tennis, golf, etc. Athletes in any of those sports do similar types of things from time to time without any negative repurcussions. I didn’t see what he did as a taunt and I don’t think the Giants did either, which is why none of them had a problem with it. The only people having issues are commentators and fans. To quote Teddy, “it is not the critic who counts…”

of course, guys in the NBA and NHL always reach for the phone to taunt the other team.
It’s a catch22 if you let guys get away with something there’s always going to be somebody to push the boundries.
But if you hold in their emotions it makes the games less impactful. NBA, and even the NFL just don’t have that fire that they used to have because their emotions are penalized and confined so much.
Regardless of what you say people just seem to hit harder when the other team taunts them, or they have to think about what the other person did to them for a whole year.

i think it was rather unclassy. The Giants were beat at that point, way to rub it in.
I’m not a fan of either team, but I would have liked to see someone on the sidelines slam him.
Says the Redskins guy…
That’s the kind of crap that pisses off us faithful Eagles fans (apparently, I’m the only one up here in Pats territory). I grew up loving the Eagles and Pittsburgh, but I have no love lost for McNabb or Andy Reid. If they pull off a Superbowl win (ie if McNabb doesn’t choke in the coming games as per usual), then you can say I was wrong, but I think they should have gone with Garcia to replace McNabb when they had the chance.
What are you talking about, Garcia is done.

There are some really thin-skinned people on here if you think what McNabb did was a taunt.

Substitute any name for Garcia, it won’t matter. If their QB was Peyton Manning or Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino, he would still get booed in Philly. They treat their own worse than any city in America. If you call them on it, they say it’s because they care so much and that they really love the player. No city is as eager to throw a player under the bus as Philly. Even Jaworski and Cunningham were booed.

Those guys got booed because they spent half the game dreaming up new ways to taunt the opposing team.
Get over it old man and no I’m not getting off your lawn.

It’s just tasteless. Same goes for TO, learn how to win.
Like the Giants fans last year screaming 18 and 1, 18 and 1? Yeah buddy. It was good to see the Giants lose. I guess the Giants are only capable of winning a super bowl once every 15 years whereas the Patriots had a legitimate dynasty in the early part of this decade winning three out of four. One lucky catch ended our chances at a fourth last year.
Signed “bitter Patriots fan that feels a bit less bitter now” ;0
Different standard between fan behavior and player behavior. And stop your bitching about last year’s Super Bowl loss. That was instant karma in it’s purest form and you damn well know it. Besides you let f’n Eli Manning BEAT you. Nice job, Pats.
Best part of the game
The No Fun League strikes again…
I’m a huge Giants fan, and I could give a shit that McNabb did that. I also support Chad Ocho Cinco in changing his name and TO back when he used to be funny instead of plain destructive.
I don’t pay to watch “professionalism”, I pay to watch motherfucking entertainment.
I miss the old end zone celebrations like how the Washington Redskins would do the Smurf when they made a touchdown, or how Pupunu on the Chargers would act out cracking open a coconut when he made a good play.
There is bad sportsmanship and then there is being cocky.
I miss just watching athletes play hard and get to be cocky and celebrate.

Yeah, let me tell you a word that when used is one of my “Pet Peaves”. That word is “professionalism” or “unprofessional”. McNabb got excoriated by the sportscaster for his “unprofessional” behavior.

Sadly Professionalism in sport often owes a lot more to the literal interpretation than what a lot of people hold it to mean. I often see Profesional sportsmen around shared facilities whose attitude to their job is far less serious than their amateur counterparts. Especially in sports where there is a large “pyramid” of professional leagues (Soccer in the UK) the lower ranks of pros only count as such 'cos they get paid. By contrast several sports with reasonably strict amateur ethos (anyone know the plural of that?) actually feature more commitment to a performance lifestyle.
As for McNabb, I didn’t see that game, was watching the World Darts Final instead (now that’s a sport where the pro-am divide is strictly financial) but as soon as I saw it on highlights I laughed, then said “Fine” so he knew what he was doing.

I don’t mind celebrations, but I pay to see quality football, and I haven’t seen much from 85 or TO lately.
