The owner of my gym has been good friends with Donnie for a long time…apparently, hes been expressing the desire to get out of competing and lose weight for a while now…since before the WR totals. I would imagine that walking around close to 400 lbs is not a fun thing on a day to day basis.
I doubt it. He gave a lot of reason in an interview on PLwatch, all of which seem to make sense. He has the record, he’s getting older, he’s tired of being enormous, and he has a daughter coming.
I don’t know if these are the real reasons, but they seem reasonable. Donnie Thompson doesn’t seem easily embarrassed by people on the internet.
