I started eating the way Don Alessi describes. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks now, and so far I have lost a bit of blubber, and put some size on the forearms and calves. I eat 1.5 grams of protein per lbs and 0.5 grams of fat per lbs with 50 grams of carbs during the weekdays. On the weekend I carb up, and I usually use a bit more carbs than he recommends, about 300 grams per day. So far things have been going well. However, right now I’d like to gain a few pounds again… I do not wanna seriously bulk up, just add some quality mass. I don’t wanna balloon up and then have to go on a cutting cycle again. I prefer slower gains, while looking good all the time! I am talking about a few pounds a year, 5 lbs at the most. My problem is this… At 200 lbs. I eat only 2100 kcal per day during the weekdays. Alessi says that when bulking it’s not really necessary to add a lot of calories, just replace fish with red meats. (done that), and the training will take care of the rest. Have any of you guys put on muscle with such a low amount of calories. I do have to say that I intend to eat way more in the weekends, up to 3,500 kcals. I only work out during the weekend too, most of the week I don’t do much…
Thanks,
I got the information from his guest forum. That as well as some Iron Dog articles, I’m not sure which. Meltdown III also has this diet outlined if memory serves me right.
ive gained a bit of strength and muscle on a pseudo-warrior diet with fewer cals than you are doing now.
your problem is training on weekends only. if weekend training is all you possibly can do, make sure to brutalize your muscles. it would be a bit better tho if you did a full body workout every three days.
Good stuff, but I just can’t do the low carb days that he recommends. I always feel like I’m starving when following Don’s stuff. It’s good for dieting, but I can’t find enough to eat when gaining.

Through trial and error I found out that I gain the most when I really brutalize, to put it that way, my muscles once a week. During the weekdays I often do a bit of weightlifting, but nothing really substantial. Maybe some flies, lunges or curls for sets of 15. In the weekend i do the heavy squats deads and benches…
