If you don’t know what to do in the meantime, let’s make something out of those retail skills.
Have you considered becoming a manager of a gym?
I’m sure if you dabble with the front desk, some personal training, membership consulting, and maybe supplement sales…you could mosey along into such a role and some good bread.
You would kill three birds with one stone. Business Skills, Money, and Love for Gym.
(Or just be really aggressive with finding assistant gym manager jobs, work there and move up, or hop to another gym chain for a promotion or whatever)
Having your degree just makes the whole “selling yourself” part easy.
Funny story. My girlfriend and I were talking about this recently bc the main gym I train at in town is not at its potential for what it could be and it was bothering me
I’ll give this a good look into because you are right. It would kill 3 birds and be good experience
Meal preps for this week: chicken fafa from Grimoire of Victual Incantations
A couple changes I made: chicken thighs were seared before cooking with rice and coconut milk (boiled chicken breasts sounded repulsive even if made in the dish) and fresh spinach
Anderson squat: depths of hell: 275x1x2. I literally couldn’t squat anything else after this (like no power to break it off the pins. My I can still feel my legs lol). So pissed off. How the hell am I better with a ssb on this shit?
But instead of just being pissed off and stopping. I’m using this as a pivot to run the 3 day version this week. I’ll do day 3, day 2, day 1 for my training this week.
It could be extra fatigue in my quads bc I’ve been doing 300 squats off a slant board
@T3hPwnisher idk what the hell happened on this one today
Having time to cool down, I think I was getting super out of position bc the straight bar is hard to position under compared to the SSB
Oh shit you’re right. I can’t believe I missed that. NGL after talking to Jamie and how he’s a fan of full ranges now, I just figured I could plug and play haha
I even noticed the fatigue in my quads walking after the workout. That’s insane
My hamstring and left leg has been feeling weird all week. I went to do GM and it really felt like shit so what ever this day is a wash. I might have strained it doing Nordic curls last weekend at the gym we visited. It hurts to fully extend it so I’m calling it today. I wanted to do this day all the way but here we are
Mentally it pisses me off but the otherside of me is thinking it’s better to not tear a hamstring doing stupid shit so
Holy shit I’m stupid. I did 225 not 255 the other day on Anderson squats. that makes way more sense on why they were so hard (thats what it was the other day @T3hPwnisher lol)
I am not doing the BW squats for today to let the leg rest
Since this now a part time food log, biscuits and gravy tonight. Not being on my phone really opens up so much time. It’s insane. Got a stew going in the slow cooker
Also I spent like 2 hours going down an EDM rabbit hole because I watched blades opening scene. Acid techno is great
This may be my favorite post of all time: meat and 90s music/Blade.
Fun fact: Blade was the first DVD I ever purchased. It was a big deal, as it meant DVDs were new technology at the time. I was the only one in my family with a DVD player, because I had a Playstation 2. I bought the DVD from Blockbuster video. This is one of the most 90s/early 2000s sentences I could possibly write.
Even more fun fact: I’ve literally never watched that DVD. It’s been like 20 years. I’ve seen the movie a bunch of times: just not from that particular DVD. I should have learned then that I don’t actually watch DVDs…
Superset:
Floor rows: 235x3x3
Strict rows: 155x3x12
single leg GHD: 2x10 (opposite arm on pad to assist reps)
Superset:
Rear delt raise (with head posted): 15:20,18,16,15
Hammer curl: 35x4x6
3 sets straight leg hanging leg raises
Super set:
Strict curls: 45x3x25
2 sets straight leg hanging leg raises
Notes:
Strict curls are super hard
Straight leg hanging leg raises seem to stretch out the hamstring thing. I think it’s just a tight muscle (biceps femoris) I know it’s not sciatic nerve because it’s too concentrated of an area. Biceps femoris makes sense because of it being a big mover in the nordics
Dealer’s choice is looking to be some lying hamstring curls, strict log press, pullups, and single arm farmers carries
Also pushups are staying for daily work but I’m going to rotate the leg stuff. Mainly bc I want start doing lunges so I’ll knock that down to 200 reps
This is added to dealers choice tomorrow. This looks fun
I may have missed it in your log, but is this something you’re focusing on?
I’m trying to decrease my screen time significantly and make my consumption of media much more intentional. I find myself mindlessly scrolling too often. Just curious if you or others are making a concerted effort to decrease phone usage.
Yeah I’ve been drained recently and I noticed my screen time was really high
So my best bet was to delete the actual apps off my phone. I can check insta messages on my computer and I use facebook messenger more often than not. Youtube was just a shit show lol
My girlfriend and I are. She’s noticed her anxiety is better. The book “Digital Minimalism” by Cal Newport is worth a read (or just a summary. It’s nothing new just great info condensed in one place). The biggest thing is to have replacements so I’ve been reading a lot
Here’s the summary I like:
It’s hard as fuck though I’m not going to lie. I think part of the reason I’ve been feeling weird this week is because I don’t have my typical “cope” to veg out on social media
Awesome info, thank you man! I’ll give that video a watch tonight. I also just deleted the apps from my phone earlier this week. Man I didn’t realize how much I used this stuff, and I feel a bit off lately too. It’s more of an addiction that we realize. We are lacking that dopamine crutch we are so used to, and as younger guys have been conditioned to since we grew up with it being pretty prevalent.
I found myself in an elevator the other day just scrolling through Instagram reels and I couldn’t even remember what I looked at. It kind of freaked me out and I made the decision there to cut back on media consumption.
Glad to hear you’re going for this also and looking forward to hearing how it continues to go!!
