Thanks! That’s what I hope! Currently up to 178lbs after I checked weight before BJJ so not much weight gain!
I’ve been lucky that all the gym I’ve trained in have a strong community that makes that happy! If you are ever in Louisiana, I suggest checking it out. Strong community, good equipment, and no air conditioning! I think the power beard is responsible for the chinning strength!
Strongman Conditioning: 90sec EMOM (took longer on last round)
50ft:
400lb yoke
180 R/L farmers

1 min Long Lever Plank
1 min Bearhug SB Hold: 150lbs
take a second to die after this
Assistance: 3 rounds (cut down from 4)- 90 sec rest
Paused Deadlift: 290x5
80lb DB rows: 15 reps R/L
1 min long lever plank
Endurance: 3 Front squat: 135x12x3 (20 sec rest between rounds)
Notes;
I need to stop doing farmers and yoke first. Yes, its first in the program but it kills the rest of the session for me. Had to take longer between giant sets
My conditioning is really good. Didn’t get tired in BJJ and only some odd muscles in my forearms needed the rest
Cut out 1 round assistance because I was zapped
Lastly holy shit! I’m pulling what would be a 1’s week for paused deadlifts! I think training heavier and different really has helped more but then again everything works until it doesn’t
Got a cool compliment from my old BJJ coach. He said “You were manhandling a smaller guy during that roll” and I responded “I wasn’t. That guy is way bigger than me”. He said “You don’t realize you have a lot of lean and dense muscle compared to that guy who is way fluffier and not as strong”. Also got the compliment of still feeling pretty damn good for not training in 10 months. Going to start going like 1x a month and pay a mat fee. Just something different to train and I’m pretty sure all the old time strongman did some sort of wrestling because of the strength it builds
Combining days tomorrow. I got better about staying away from shit that keeps me from lifting but started watching Dr. Who lost track of time, didn’t have food at the house, and one hundred other excuses. Sometimes I fall into binges (like this) if I’m knocked out of my usually patterns and have something to do later that day. Oh well, move on and learn
Hit the ‘like’ because this is me, x2. I find that being a creature of habit can be a blessing AND a curse: Usually it serves me well, but when it doesn’t…
I really must not know my maxes or I’m in really good shape. Yesterday’s EMOM work was at roughly 85%. RPM from Brian Alsuhre is based at 50-60% while doing the EMOM format with similar reps.
My legs in general don’t get fatigue during working sets of breathing squats but it’s more of an overall general feeling of “This fucking sucks”. But everytime I do the breathing squats, I walk around pretty sore and stiff the next day
Conan’s wheel is good for practicing bracing and mental toughness. May not be a developmental but something to change it up
I still think peaking is the easy part of a training cycle. Thinking of doing an EMOM of 10x3, 10x2, 10x1 for log press. Basically gets heavier closer to comp
going to bring back the 5 rounds of chins, push ups, and squats but with a weight vest for the bulk. Simple and more volume
King cake and milk has become the name of the game for this bulk. I’m a huge fan of king cake more so the sentimental attachment but I still find it to be my favorite sweet. Banana foster king cake. It was ok probably not a get again thing
And then keeping doing them heavier and heavier, and eventually you’ll get to experience leg fatigue during the actual squats, too—it’s like bonus terribleness!
Teddy bear squat (box squat front loaded with sand bag but kick feet out on the box): 100lbs
:60 work
:60 rest
:45 work
:45 rest
:30 work
:30 rest
:15 work
Played around with stone to shoulder. Holy shit that’s hard
Notes:
Brother’s funeral Saturday. Get to be a pallbearer. We may have not had a relationship but carrying his coffin is the least I could do
It’s fucking 21F (-7C) in Louisiana. My body feels beat up. Will get some different conditioning in later but for some reason my biceps have been feeling like trash (probably the teddy bear squats)
Clean and press from this morning. Still working on the continental form. Everything felt off and bar felt heavy. Probably just not fully engaged with all the stuff going on
I like the idea of not warming up for conditioning to train my body to go hard without a warm up but light warming up for main sessions
Tried on my suit from the last funeral roughly 6 months ago. Back then it was fitted (not extremely tight) but now it is new suit time according to everyone who saw it. Kind of a cool feeling
