I got a 74! This classic is dumb so I’m having to damage control. I got a 57 on the first exam when the class average was 60
So are we happy with a 74 or sad?
Happy. I need a C- or better to pass. Obviously I’d like something better than a B but considering all the other stuff going on, I’ll take the 74 currently
I had a small anxiety episode from the stress, caffeine, and antibiotics prior to the exam too. 74 is a win for today
Well then. In that case. ![]()

Strong work!! Now you can relax. At least about that. ![]()
TB Base building (W1D1)
Time: 28 minutes
3 rounds of 20 reps in a 20lb plate carrier
BSS
Push up
FE Inverted row
GHD
Flutter kicks (40 reps)
50lb RH
Notes:
- Hand aches. Lifting hooks are funky
- about 2-3 min rest between rounds. 1st 2 rounds done in roughly 7 minutes. 3rd took the longest. Hit a wall. Not sure if it’s because I’m out of shape for endurance or the antibiotics (probably both)
- The best way to explain the above is I redlined all of the sudden
- Had another mini scare today. Turns out the syllabus was wrong for my neuro class. Presentations were today not Thursday. Not a huge deal because we finished it a while ago. Just more of an “oh shit” moment especially after this morning
- Wanted to report I weighed in at 201 pounds with 134/69 blood pressure and 64 bpm at the doctors the other day
- I’m open to hearing ideas on ab work in a plate carrier. HLR are off the table for a minute
- going to bang out the 30 minutes zone 2 tonight on the treadmill
- Going to get some extra large gloves for my hand so I can get back to cooking and dishes. I’ve been surviving off pre-made food from sams and protein shakes. It beats doordash
- I got some of this:
- I am buying another jar. It’s so nice to have a break from “milk” like whey flavors (Yes I realize how stupid that sounds)
TB Basebuilding W1D2 (the cardio)
Endurance: 30 min
Walk on treadmill: Kept HR at ~140bpm
Notes:
- Watched “Maul”. It’s so badass
- MTG prerelease this friday. Looking forward to playing some paper magic
Proper endurance work getting move till tomorrow after the circuit.
Finally went on my first walk with the dogs in a week. The sun felt great. Also got the house cleaned. I feel like a new person
Edit: Im adding jacked and tan, the tactical barbell system, and bullmastif to my “to be ran” after the massing phase
TB W1D3/4
Time: 13:46
2 rounds of 20 reps with 20lb vest (5:30 work/2 min rest):
- BSS
- Pushup
- IR
- GHD
- 40 reps flutter kick
- 50lb reverse hyper
Doing 30 min LiSS cardio now. Currently on assault bike might try to jump rope. Would up jumping rope every 5 minutes until I would mess up then back to bike. Heart rate average in 140s
Notes:
- I didn’t need to lifting hooks today! Hand is healing up
- Almost done with these antibiotics thank God. I have inflammation all over. My knees ache
Found a show to do:
Alabama’s strongest man 2026
This time it doesn’t interfere with my classes
Events are:
AMRAP clean and press: 225
Max Frame Deadlift
Sandbag toss
Carry medley (duck, duck, dinnie stones)
H-stone and keg load
In terms of planning, this probably derails the bulking programs but this will be my last chance to compete in college. Probably going to run TB until my hand heals up then jump into show stuff
Current plan is to sign back up with MST since I like their strongman stuff
@BrandonCrawford @T3hPwnisher The bulking plans are not thrown out but rather pushed back
All good homie I think we were a little silly talking about bulking for a year straight. It doesn’t really work like that lol. Dan John says you don’t run Mass Made Simple or something like it more than 1 or 2 times a year, and the older I get, the more I see clues that were hiding in plain sight all along like that.
I’m struggling with my hunger cues right now after force feeding so much over the last 4ish months, so I’ve cut the food (and training) down until my body goes back to “feed us, we want to grow!” again.
I’ll be the one to do it:
It definitely makes sense to my logical part of my brain but that parts no fun
Yeah I get that. I’m sort of in the same boat but the reduced availability of food, due to the hand, is getting me straightened out it feels like. My stomach seems to have already shrank over the past week
Funny enough attempting to commit to a longer plan is the time something else will come up haha
Full concur. There’s a reason bulk and cut cycles are a thing. Periods of caloric restriction are good for improving insulin sensitivity, and periods of increased calories fuel hard training and ramp up the metabolism to give us the runway FOR those periods of caloric restriction without going nutrient deficient. Plus, it’s just more “natural”. We didn’t evolve in a static environment: we grew through chaos.
Heck, even while I am in a period of maintenance, I STILL throw wrenches at my body. 2 days with 1 meal a day, 3 days with 2, 2 days that are wildcards.
Same. My bulking goes like this because I’ll run out of food and just not want to cook for a few days
Actually who am I kidding, protein is the only stable thing day to day when it comes to my nutrition haha
Actually who am I kidding, protein is the only stabled thing day to day when it comes to my nutrition haha
And if you start playing around with THAT things can get REALLY wild, haha.
I’m 95% sure my stable is just me lying to myself
Also @T3hPwnisher if you had to choose between staying at -198 or cutting to -181 for a comp, all the event weights look doable except clean and press but it’s the same at each weight class, what would you do?
I’m sitting around 196 right now. It’s 3 months away
Unless you actually WANT to lean out, I don’t cut weight for comps.
Gotcha. I’ll just eat right and train hard to see what happens
Is it just the press where the weight is the same, or everything? Because if it’s the latter, why in the world would you cut for no reason?
why in the world would you cut for no reason?
Easier competition to beat.
