Doing Dumb Stuff as a College Kid

2 rounds in. I never realized how much of an asshole I am when I compete but that explains why I never liked team sports. Music is getting heavier and angrier but we are going to make it

Round 3:

Sprained my foot in the 3rd one so I had to power walk

1 more to go!

It’s over. I got the trophy. Ran first 3 walked last 3. This was fucking stupid and I hated every minute of it

Lessons learned from today (now that I’m home):

  • @T3hPwnisher was spot on about the strongman shorts and compression shorts
  • I might have made myself sterile because of the outside heat with that combo
  • I’m 90% sure I was in zone 2 for like 6 hours
  • I can do more than I think
  • I hit a new mile time in the first mile (8:45)
  • I don’t like the running crowd. Not my people. Now the people we talked to after at a restaurant were cool because they weren’t pretentious
  • Sometimes I think I’m not mentally tough. I think testing it with shit like this is way more worth it than trying to do shit to “build mental toughness”. I’m kinda proud because i deadass took my shoes off after limping back post 3 lap but there was 5 minutes till the 4th lap and just said “fuck it”

Strict press: 135x5, 155x5, 165x2
Dips: 65x4, 80x3, 100x2
Chins: 25x9, 7+2
Bench: 175x10, 8

Then a bunch of rehab stuff for lower body

Notes:

  • I didn’t feel human until 3 pedialytes yesterday
  • I was dragging a little bit today. I feel like the 165 for 5 is there but I was really lightheaded today
  • I tried a sample of a whiskey yesterday. I do not like whiskey but if I had a spare $85 to waste on whiskey, I’d buy that bottle
  • Everything below my knees is just uncomfortable
  • Plyos might be out tomorrow. My feet just hurt

I’m such a big fan of this entire post. Glad to hear the “not quite briefs” worked

Notes:

  • I was wiped out after 345x3. The racing fatigue is still there

Run: .65 mile in 6.22min

Notes:

  • It’s something. I gave myself the option to do less because my feet and shins still hurt. I’m at my moms and I’m not driving to the gym for cardio
  • I might actually do one of those running plans

Just catching up, and NICE job sticking it out to the end in that race! You did great! How did your gf and the rest of your crew do?

I hope you had a great Christmas and lots of good food!

We had one no show. My gf finished with somewhere between 10-15 minute miles. Her friend finished ninth in the womens! I do not remember going to be on Christmas but I definitely woke up with an Irish coffee! I hope your Christmas was good too!

Time: 55 min

DL: 335x6, 365x5, 405x4
DB press: 75x5, 85x4, 100x3
BTN Press: 115x6,6
BSS: 55’s x 7,8

Notes:

  • I’m off one day week wise. Spent time with GF and family. GF got a part time position in a childrens hospital which starts this week so it was worth it to make the time
  • I signed up for conjugateXstrong’s (the instagram handle) conditioning program on trainheroic. It’s $10 a month and 2 workouts a week. Doing the first one tomorrow
  • Deadlifting in heels helped me pulls so much. I do need to keep my knees more forward in the pull around the knee but it felt really good
  • We watched “Wake up daed man” this weekend. I am now going to explore some Agatha Christi books

Conditioning

8 rounds in 14:20:

  • 50lb SB seated good mornings x 10
  • 30 face pulls
  • 10 HLRs

Note:

  • Need 1/3 of BW for the good mornings but only had a 50lb bag so we just rocked with that
  • Good mornings were done in a matter than at the bottom of the hinge your butt comes off the seat then you drive back down and extend on the box. Pretty good glute and adductor stretch. I’m a fan
  • I’m excited for this conditioning program. It has variety that I do not need to come up with
  • I’ve been embracing my inner nerd and I’ve been exploring solo RPGs. I got one where it basically gets you to draw cards for writing prompts and you create a store about a a deity you create that includes a rise, golden age, and fall story arc. It’s pretty neat and I’m excited to start it

Notes:

  • Would have went for another rep on bench with a spotter but I did not have one
  • My full cleans are better than my power cleans
  • Made the last beer and cigar run for a while. GF and I are giving up alcohol to for the transformation challenge and because we are going to be busy the next 6 months so I had to get some stuff I wanted to try before the new year

“Conditioning”

Sped walk my normal 45 min walking route. Stayed in zone 2. Moving training ways around for a lighter day today. My knees hurt so much for some reason but I’ll be back to normal tomorrow. Don’t know if to count this or not because it’s sorta my daily activity but at a faster pace

Edit: I felt like a fatass so I got moving with some of this:

3 rounds:

  • 10 reverse Nordic curls
  • 5 pull ups
  • 10 push ups

2 rounds:

  • 10 bw squats
  • 5 pull up’s
  • 10 push ups

Now for some limber 11

RDL: 315x4, 335x5, 355x2

Notes

  • very candidly my fucking knees hurt during this. They are feeling way better post lift but man they were hurting during the squats
  • Conditioning tomorrow is dependent on the knees. Tomorrow trainheroic conditioning is rower + goblet squats so
  • Wrapping up this 1st 6 weeks and it’s going well. Very excited for the rest of the program
  • We booked a weekend get away to Ocean Springs MS so that might be fun

Dips: 75x4, 90x2, 80x2

Notes

  • called it there. Missed out on OHP and BSS but that’s not the worst thing. This is the first workout in 6 weeks where I’ve actually preformed badly so that’s definitely a win
  • I planned on skipping BSS today anyways because of the knees
  • I felt like ass today. Everything felt heavy. Probably a product of sleeping like shit the last 2 days, not eating, working outside all day yesterday
  • On the brightside, my knees didn’t hurt!
  • I’ve been waking up with headaches recently. I have no idea why but my upper back/neck has been extremely tight recently. I also need to get back to taking my electrolytes
  • I do think these lifts have ran their 6 week course but that’s the beauty of this program. Different rep schemes and different lifts for the next 6 weeks! Going to be more oriented for strongman comps on the horizon
  • If I wind up going to the gym with gf this weekend, I’ll do some extra arm and shoulder stuff just for fun
  • Pictures from the run got posted. Leave it to me to do the reverse strongman. Stop competing to get fat and strong
