So, now that I am only modestly humiliated by my bench press, I have to get back on the diet bandwagon. I purposely tipped the fucking thing over and set it on fire the last 3 weeks, so I went from being ahead of schedule to slightly under the gun.
I am actually going to do some SS cardio this year, which I have never done before. First day was today, and it wasn’t too bad. The globo gym has treadmills with TVs on them, and I watched two thick-legged German blondes play tennis for 30 min while I walked.
I love women’s tennis.

Angelique Kerber - powerful thighs
7/4/12 - Squat
Squat - 375x10
Could barely motivate myself to do even this much today. Barely slept last night, schedule is all fucked up because of holiday, blah blah blah.
Shit effort. Will rebound.
7/5/12 - MP
MP (JM 5s wave week 1) - 165x5x5, 165x8
Machine Rear LR - 4x14
Machine LR - 4x13
CS DB LR Swing - 45x15 15,12 15
Decent session. I have an enormous blood blister on my right palm which was killing me on the MP. Can’t wait til that fucker heals.
NICE! bench that is…also is that you in front of the camera at the beginning with some calf viens i see? If so…probs pretty lean no?

Yeah that is me. I am decently lean right now (for me), but I’m pretty vascular most of the time, especially in my legs. It’s genetic really. My dad is 270 and fat and his calves have veins popping out too.
7/6/12 - Back
DB Row - 80,100,120x10, 145x15
WG Pulldown - 170x5x10
Machine Row - 220x5x10
DB Timed Shrug - 145x60s
Rope Extension - 5x12
EZ Curl - 5x10
BW is at 227 this morning.
Congrats on the 405 bench man. Big time milestone and looked like you got it pretty easy.

Thanks man. I had the worst mental block about it for a long time. Every time that 4th plate went on the bar I would get psyched out before I even got it in my hands. Even missed it the first time I tried it that day.
After the miss, my buddy Dave just looked at me and said “Dude, what the fuck is your problem? This ain’t the goddamned Super Bowl, just lift the fucking weight!” For some reason, that was exactly what I needed to hear. I treated the next attempt just like any other set and everything went fine.
My bench should start moving up again now that I’m over the hump.
7/9/12 - BP
BP (JM 10s wave week 1) - 225x4x10, 225x12
Bench felt pretty awful today. Did the reps pretty slow and controlled, hence only 12 on the last set. Might have been good for 15 but fuck it, my pussy hurts.
Incline DB Press - 100x8,8,6,6,5 ugh fuck
DB Curl - 50x8,8,5
EZ Pullover Ext - 125x8,8,7
Reverse Curl - a few sets; they felt like shit so I stopped
Dead Stop Dips - one chain x five x ten or so
Overall not really a bad session, performance wise. Just felt off physically. Dieting will do that I suppose.
Went for a walk on my lunch break today since it was nice out. Got sweaty, took shirt off. Felt incredibly douchey and uncomfortable, like some fag in a Diet Pepsi commercial minus the chest hair and with lots more muscle. Put shirt back on. Maybe if I wore shorts I would feel less like an asshole. Somehow jeans and no shirt seems like a weird combo when walking around the city. Probably because NOBODY DOES THAT EVER, DIPSHIT.
7/11/12 - DL
Sumo DL w/suit - worked up to 500x5
This was a bad idea. First time pulling since I got a cortisone shot in my hip a month or so ago. 500 was easy but today my hip is fucking KILLING me. I might be done deadlifting, like forever.
Other stuff, not worth mentioning:
leg ext, leg curl, abs, calves, blah
Diet is going well, back down to 225 this morning. Looking pretty decent.
you sumo? Would it be worth trying to conventional dead? Lots less hip flexation?

Yeah I knew what you meant, just busting balls.
I can’t pull conventional, since my hip doesn’t move that way any more. Just can’t reach the bar. Makes picking things up off the ground a real bitch.
7/12/12 - MP
MP (JM 5s wave week 2) - 185x3x5, 185x8
Machine Laterals - 4 sets
Machine Rear Laterals - 4 sets
DB LR/Swing SS - 2 sets
MP was decent. Everything else was kinda just ok. Energy levels are pretty low right now with the diet.

I have to be moderately wide. I have done a lot of experimenting and there’s only one stance that really works. It’s the one I’m using in my deadlift vids in here somewhere.
I used to pull conventional before I hurt the hip but had to switch after because of the loss of ROM. Took me about a year of fucking around before I finally found a stance that was comfortable (meaning I can hold a solid back angle and get decent drive with my legs).

shit man, is this something you see getting better/worse/staying the same? Or is it like a wait till it hits a certain point then surgery kinda thing? Can it not be improved with flexibility/mobility or soft tissue work? I know you mentioned what it was but i have no idea WHAT it is. Probably google it myself now haha, just seems like youre fucking jacked, i wish for you that the hip wasnt holding you back
