If you can still get pullup PRs, then the expanding situation can’t be that bad. Nice job![/quote]

Thanks Kimba

It’s funny - my weight hasn’t gone up much but my belly is bigger. I just need to cut out the junk carbs that have crept their way back into my diet.

nice work George- very smooth lifting.

wow - nice PR session

Nice C&P PR’s George. I wish I could clean 135, much less press it!

Bike 5 mins
Squats
barx20
135x5
185x3
225x3
245x3
265x3
285x3 PR +10#

Walkouts/very high pin squat (pin 22)
315x1
365x1
405x1
435x1 PR
465x1 PR

Finisher Squats
275x3x3

I think I need to focus on a single primary lift each workout. Trying to do both an upper and a lower movement to heavy singles is just not working out. Today with the squats, I went in tired and whining about everything but ended up having a really satisfying session. That 3x3 finisher just 10#s under the PR weight really capped off the evening with a nice burn on the last set. The pin squat part of the walkouts was actually easier than the walkout itself â?? these are great confidence builders.

George, nice work. That is a huge amount of weight to walk out! Heavy walkouts have really helped me gain confidence with increasing my squat weight. And so much depends on the thoughts that run through the brain after unracking. At least for me.

But I would caution you to watch your depth on your squats. I don’t think you’re dipping below parallel. You know how picky our judges are.

Seems like new PRs every time you lift.

For myself, I’ve decided to start calculating all my PRs from after I turned 54

That way I’ll get to see some.

Good Squatting George, I think I am stealing your walk outs.

Walkouts do seem like a good idea, don’t they.

those walkouts look impressive as hell.

if i tried walking that out, it would like like shaken baby syndrome

Snapper, I see what you mean. That first rep was definitely high, the second was marginal and I think the third was good. Time for some remedial action…

love the new avi

I like those. Think I’m going to try some starting after the season. Season ends tomorrow.

If you want some real fun, try racking it front squat style.

Junk carbs have got to go. Diet discipline is way harder than what goes on in the gym, I think.

Bike 40 minutes around the mountain top and then an abortive attempt to bench

Started my bench session and when my arms started shaking on my last warmup set, I thought I better go get something to eat. I’ll do things in reverse order tomorrow. Weights first, bike second…

Absolutely do your cardio second! You silly man.

eh? I was biking for pleasure but forgot I hadn’t been doing much recently and I hadn’t eaten much before that. I’ve since rectified that little matter with a large salad with tomato, cucumber, mushroom and avacado. Followed by lemon-pepper salmon and steamed broccoli.
