Seriously nice work, George. You were very impressive.

Those vids look professional quality. Did you pay someone to do them?

Fierce. Thanks, Joe.
What? Is fierce not a complement in the mountains?
Actually - she was probably sincere with the “thanks, Joe” and not being sarcastic
Probably, my sarcasm detector has been way off today.

sarcasm detectors don’t work on the Snapper Joe - she’s too sly…

George, what a great meet! All your hard work really paid off. Congratulations!

George, you look different than your avatar. What’s with that?

Congrats on the great meet. Are you still on a high? I can ride a great meet high for weeks. It gets to be like a drug and you’ll need another hit

What are your next plans?

I got a makeover…

Thanks! I’m still riding pretty but a couple of nights short on sleep are taking care of that…

I’m undecided on plans. I probably start back up on 531 and shoot for a December meet but I might wait until mid-August to start since I go on vacation the first two weeks of August.

If I wait to start, I’ll just do some random stuff here and there once my body stops hurting whenever I move…

It’s good to take a couple of weeks to just fart around before you get into anything again. Do some curls and stuff. You’ll feel better. I guarantee

I will say this much about starting competing at our age; it makes me realise how many other things I still want to do and I still can do. While everyone else is riding the couch into middle age, many of us are discovering there’s still a lot left to do.

Yup - I hear you there. That’s pretty much why I took up mountain biking and weight lifting both in my late 40’s.

Meet high lasts me til I get to the car to drive home. Start going over everything in my head, planning for the next fix, I mean meet.

Great job at the meet. Fierce videos. Cute new avatar.

Since my mid-40’s I’ve taken up golf and powerlifting. My latest thrill is track racing. When added to all of the other stuff I like such as hiking, skiing, fishing, dirt bikes, and scuba/snorkling.

I could be full time busy having fun. When that lottery check comes in I’ll be a busy guy. In my younger days I piloted the boat in my avatar but that was too damn dangerous.

It is amazing and sad to see the amount of inactivity in our generation. Especially when we were brought up in a more fitness focused era.

I seriously considered trying out for roller derby this past winter. But, alas, reason prevailed.

It’s totally cool that you called me “fierce,” Joe. It is a complement being a mountain girl and all.

Dog, I’m not surprised that you’re sore. Damn, you did some really impressive lifting!

I think it has less to do with lack of fitness than the belief that most of our life’s book is written. I think people generally don’t take up something completely new in middle age because they ‘can’t’ or believe that they can’t. It’s driven more by fear and inertia than anything else.

The new avatar is the real Sol-dog and his new friend Neo. Picture taken by my daughter at my ex’s house. Sol is over 100 lbs and just wants to be friends with the 0.5 lbs kitten…

Sometimes I really miss that pup

very cute:)

Got my biggest T&F meet of the year tomorrow. Any pre-meet advice?

drink up tonight! oh wait - maybe that should be tomorrow night?

Throw far, run fast. Good luck, Harry.

Edit: Soldog, I forgot this was your thread for a moment when I saw Harry’s post. Now I realize that he came here to ask advice specifically from an expert at maximizing performances at important meets. Too bad, Harry, my unsolicited advice still stands.

put my juvenile delinquent son on an airplane to visit his grandmother and uncle for a week this afternoon. and promptly tied one on (my style) 5-6 shots of tequila with lime and 7-8 Negra Modelos while watching old tv series. in this case, “Dexter”.

maybe I can let go of this constant tension for a week now…

love Dexter, but Dexter with tequila shots def sounds like an upgrade.

take it easy this week and recharge them batteries.

Oh, you should have called. I could have come over to drink with you. I put my daughter on a plane yesterday! But she’s not a delinquent yet. Enjoy your week.
