That’s why I have a handler. He actually squashes me into a size 28 suit for DL and squat. Pretty tiny. It’s damn ugly getting into and out of this shit. Come to think of it, it’s damn ugly when I’m in it as well.

Interesting how you re-set between each DL with the full standup. But you keep your rhythm. Luckily for the back, you only have to pull one on the platform.

I don’t always do a full stand-up reset. This was actually the first time in a while reverting to that style in an effort to keep tighter.

Wow, 320x5. Your deadlifting weight is moving right along. Wonder what your max is now? Has to be over 400.

Good pulling George, I’m going to ahve to step it up a notch.

nice lookin deads dog - and i’ve seen much worse in terms of rounding. keep working on it!

In pursuit of the elusive flat back/arched back… Not perfect form, but acceptable for a heavy set. I’d take it, having done much, much worse.

Those looked easy. Trainings paying off.

Yep. Looking good, George. You have really been moving along. Keep it up!

Seeing as how it’s hard to tell how many plates you really have on the bar, I’m going to have to call foul on this one, dog. I’m sorry, but you’re pulling way too fast for that to be 3+ plates.

However, hypothetically speaking, if that really were the weight you said it was, I would fully expect a 400+ pound pull out of you at the meet.

Hypothetically speaking.

I do this as well. Better for my low back. DL for reps and my lower back just are not friends, at all.

Great work Dawg, you’re really getting back on top of it

Those were easy looking deads. It looked to me like you were bringing your butt up a bit before the lift. That might have something to do with the lift. I had the same problem with mine till someone pointed it out to me.

6/12/10 Stationary bike 5 min
Shldr Rehab warm-up
MP Training max = 120#
45x10, 65x5, 75x5,
Work: 90x5, 105x3, 115x7

A1: BBB 75x10x5 sets
A2: Dead hang Pull-ups 6,6,5,5,4 (+1 rep) , 2

Feeling very stale even after an extra day off and no biking. Still pleased with the way the pull-ups are progressing and am keeping them to a full extension hang (not paused).

I had to move my handler in with me a couple of months ago. I require a lot of handling.
I was in a size 28 centurian as well but the straps were too short.

Soldog, when’s the meet? Those pulls looked really easy. Why don’t you pull sumo all the time?

Hey ouro! The meet is 17-18 July. As for why don’t I pull sumo all the time? well the best answer I have is “variety is the spice of life”. I’m still trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Conventional deads work but they irritate that old back issue. Sumo works but I don’t think I’m a can pull as much. So I’ll switch back and work the form to see what happens…

Gotcha. I pull sumo because it shortens the stroke and I get a ton of pop off the floor with the suit. Interesting you mentioned your lower back because I’ve been having a lot of aggravation with mine over the past few.months. Maybe it’s aggravated by deads as well.

It is a local meet? How many have you done?

yep - Denver local meet
http://www.rmlccolorado.com/rawnats/rawnats-index.htm

I have done one prior meet also hosted by RMLC here in Denver. That one happened in early December. I placed first in my age/weight division by virtue of getting a total and being the only lifer to do so in that division. About halfway down this page:

the meet report starts.

Thanks for posting the link. One of the nice things about training with a club when I started (coached by a very particular international level ref) was that I went to my first meet with all commands and particulars like feet flat on the floor drilled into my head. I was first lifter of the day at my first meet because of my size. I thought I would crap myself. However, i did it and having done it has stood me in good stead.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope you have fun. I have had at all my meets except the second one I bombed at. The first wasn’t bad because I got to see my guy set a national bench record.

6/5/2010
Stationary Bike 5 minutes warm up
Training max = 260
Squat Barx10, 95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 165x3
Work sets: 195x5, 225x3, 250x6

Not a true rep out. I felt my self coming up unevenly and did a partial GM on the last rep so I called it a day. Mentally stale and not into it â?? ie: I wussed out. Deload starts and hopefully the weather gives me a couple of riding days. Itâ??s been rainy and t-storms since Thursday. Yesterday, we got an inch of snow in the morning and twice later it put down an inch of pea sized hail.

Depth looks super! Nice dip into the hole. Crazy ass weather, eh?
