Dogpile 2010

I agree with DAC, looking great out of the hole. If you don’t get at least 315, we’ll send MJ to kill and eat you.

How’s that for motivation?

Adrenaline will make that 315 fly up. Get mad at them damn weights. They’ve insulted you, made fun of your interior decorating,…ok. Use whatever pre-lift technique you perfer. Your training’s been going great, you’re ready.

Thanks Harry - but I haven’t learned to harness the rage yet. Even in my martial arts training, it was more abstract - kinda floating above the action. I always thought that was desired - the “empty mind” and all that…

sfp- MJ only eats those who don’t conform to the cult of 531 - I am an obedient follower (for the most part)…

Obtaining or attempting to obtain mushin no shin never kept a samurai from bellowing out a good ole kia as he attacked. Of course, when I see the Dalai Lama post a 2000+ total I’ll be willing to change my thinking. What ever method you use, givem hell.

Yep, George, I think they all look legal, although your second and third squats actually look deeper than your first. I know the judges were hard on you re: depth at the December meet. Try to bury your first attempt depth-wise so that the judges don’t watch so closely on your subsequent attempts.

Those were some good looking squats. Good depth, and you made them look easy.

focused angry energy helps in my lifts… the key word being focused.

6/7/10
Bench Training max = 175#
w/u road bike 2.1 miles, 12 min, shldr rehab
Barx20, 75x5, 95x5, 115x3
Working: 135x5, 150x3, 170x6

Tried 185x3 again

Assistance 115x10 2 sets
DB BO Row 90x10 2 sets

Just not into it on the assistance tonight. When I realized that I was finding other stuff to do instead of the assistance, I quit. I was also disappointed in the money set given I hit 12 reps at 165 a month ago. One of those days…

I’m with snap, take that first one to rock freaking bottom like you own the place.

go dog go! (cheering you on for those last reps.) kinda scary that you push yourself that far alone in your basement… knock on wood man.

thanks nl! not as bad as it seems, the safety pins are set where I can squirm out from under the bar if I can’t complete the lift. There is actually a video of just that happening in my previous log must of been in October.

8 June 2010

A ride around the neighborhood ahead of the thunderstorms. It wasn’t looking too bad at first, so after the first big peak I decided to go the long way down and back up. It got kinda cold at 30 mph when it started sprinkling halfway down… But the storm cooperated and held off until 5 minutes after I got home and then it cut loose for 15 minutes of downpour, light hail and thunder. Lucky me! This one felt pretty good, I was on the hybrid bike with smooth tires and a mixture of dirt and paved roads so the rolling resistance was a lot less than the mountain bike.

Just under 9 miles and just over an hour for this ride, Total elevation = 1087 feet

had to get the mantard for the meets. It’s required lifting wear - glad you think it’s sexy! were it not for all the other lifter’s wearing the same type of suit at the meet, it would have been extremely awkward! In my basement trying out the suit and videoing - not so bad

imagine the 911 call of someone awkwardly stuck in their lifting gear and not able to take the darn thing off?

callin 911

“what’s your problem sir?”

“I’m stuck in my shirt, in my basement Mam. I need someone to come help me out of it.”

right. lol.

That would only be an issue for gear whores like Pete and ouro! wellll - maybe snapper too.

6/9/10
Bike trainer 5 min, SLDL barx20 (trying to stretch out my hamstrings)
Deadlies 135x5, 185x5, 205x5, 225x3
Work sets: 255x5, 285x3, 320x5

High rep conventional deads are not good for my back, I stopped at 5 because I could feel that spot next to my flat disk. After the meet I revert back to sumo deads since my back seemed to do a lot better with them.

If you dont mind me asking. But do you have a problem with keeping your lower back tight? In your video your lower back looks a little rounded at the start of your pull.

I do and I’m aware and working on it best I can.

thanks for stopping by!

Good work, rounding and all. I’m working on the same thing.
