Bench opener looked pretty good. I think the pause was pretty close to what you’ll get at the meet, depending on who’s in the head chair. Looks like you’re lifting your butt a bit on the last rep. Watch that.
Biking in our neighborhood, Soldog, can be a religious experience. Ten miles of high-elevation hilly terrain can be equivalent to manyfold that at sea level.

Yeah - I’ve come close to seeing god a couple of times!
I did feel the butt lift on the last rep of the bench - I’ll have to try it again to see if I should lower the opener a bit.

Holy Hatshit!

Squatting is rightfully a priority.

Not long at all actually. 'Specially if you front-load 'em like you have in the past.

Not sure I recall what you mean by “front-load” just do more on the first sets?

Yeah. They’ll fall off pretty quick from set to set, but over time the involved muscles seem to develop the capacity to do that much over and over.
6/5/2010
Stationary Bike 5 minutes warm up
Training max = 260
Squat Barx10, 95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 165x3
Work sets: 185x3, 210x3, 235x3
275x3
Legs are feeling empty after yesterday’s ride, 275 will be my opener in July and I did three reps but that last one felt slower than it looked. I want to keep up with the rides but will have to plan the harder rides appropriately considering my lifting schedule. Or go ahead and take an extra day off if I think I need it. Also have to consider the remaining time up until the meet.
Have a great weekend all!
Really great work, soldog. Good looking openers. You are going to do great!
Sol, those squats looked great. 275 opener…where do you plan on ending up?

I hit a 295 single without much difficulty on May 19th, so that will be my second lift (barring unforeseen events) and then I’d really like to hit 315.
If you can do 275 for 3 like that while feeling dragged out, I don’t think there’s any doubt about nailing a 315 squat in comp. You’ve got a really strong drive out of the hole.
Squats look really solid, George.

Thanks Tony! - but as you know, meets are totally different from your gym…
