Dogpile 2010

I was going to go outside and do manly things today. Chainsaw the tree that blew over to pieces, ride around mountain top and then drink beer.

But…

I ended up attempting to get in touch with my feminine side and decorating the front entryway. After being initially told that I should have nothing on the walls to allow prospective buyers to imagine filling the empty canvas, I am now told by the Realtor and ex that some decorating needs to be done. So my initial attempt is add the silk plants, make the yin-yang mirror design, add the mirrors at the stairwell and the weave mirrors in the foreground. Also visible in the upper right is one of the silk trees I added to the living room. The only redeeming factor for the afternoon is that I started in on the Guinness a couple of hours ago…

Guinness will solve any problem and grow some hair on your chest despite the silk plants:) Not like my Miller Chill which screams girly beer. The YinYan mirror thingy is very cute. Did you decide that all on your own?

So, where’s the “Dogs Playing Poker” print? No velvet Elvis or neon bar signs? Throw down a rebel flag hook rug for goodness sake. Couple of stuffed critters from the taxidermy man over the fireplace, maybe? Copy of Modern DoubleWide on the coffee table next to a a cooling bottle of MD20/20 (get a good week), a tray of Viennie sausages and cheese in a can. Use the company’s coming glasses, the Dale Ernhardt ones, an your cleanest PBR coasters. Finishing touch is a SI swim suit issue in the john.
Some people just ain’t got no sense of style.
Your lifting looks great. A triple with your planned opener should be a great confidence builder. You ready.

I was going to have to ask you to turn in your man card, but I see you’re doing the decorating to sell the house, i.e. it’s a necessary evil.

You can still be in the club, dog.

Don’t forget to have some cookies baking and shit!!!

Drinking Guineness is god’s work, George. Good luck with the house.

Looks damn good, soldog. Not that I am an interior decorator, but it is aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks all!

nl - the design and application was my idea, the idea to put mirrors in the entry was the ex’s. The plants were the realtor’s idea but I picked them out.

Harry, sfp, rug - what can I say, gotta hit mainstream and the bare look didn’t cut it.

Thanks skip - not room to clutter it up and I had to keep the cost down due to budget issues, so simple was the name of the game.

6/1/10
Bike trainer 5 min, SLDL barx20 (trying to stretch out my hamstrings)
Deadlies 135x5, 185x5, 205x5
Work sets: 235x3, 275x3, 315x3, 345x3 (previous opener on 12/6/09)

365x3 PR +2 reps

365 is my anticipated opener for the July meet. I was well pleased with the way these three reps went up. I still need to work on getting my legs involved more instead of doing a mostly stiff legged dead and as always I have to work on flattening out my back. Gonna stick to just the basics this week for the major lifts, since I’m checking out my anticipated openers by doing triples.

Nice work on balancing your inner gay with the guinness followup.
Good luck with the house sale.

Pulls had a lot of bar speed they looked easy, nice work there.
a wee more back arch and a wee bit of leg drive could help out.

really looking solid dog.

Since I do Trap bar instead of regular deads, my legs get involved but here’s a tip I figured out that works for me. Itmight work for you…Consciously skweeze your glutes as you start to pull. This little trick has helped me alot, especially since I like to fug up my back all the time.

Sweet! Soldog, your strength is really moving. You’re gonna do great at the meet!

you did have good speed on those dog. A lot of people have “hangtime” when they lift near their maxe. Most excellent.

Nice deads George! That went up easy

Now who’s rocking the deads?

Nice deadlifting numbers. Can’t wait to see you destroy your total from your first meet.

kmc - thanks and I believe that I will always need to work on the back arch and leg drive. The Guinness cured all…

rug - that’s yet another thing to build into my list of things to practice

Skip - I’m pleased with the way things are moving, maybe getting my head on straighter is having an effect.

nl - I wonder how close this is to my real max and hope to find out at the meet

Wilson - they did go up easier than I anticipated, esp. since the triple at 345 felt heavier than it should have.

Joe - I guess we both are but I didn’t do 6 of 'em

Nice deads! Oh do I completely understand about wanting a nice back. Keep on working it!

2 June 2010

a little ride around the mountain top

6.25 miles, 675 feet total elevation, 45 minutes.

George, you are at some serious altitude. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t handle that.
