Dogpile 2010

I would be glad to video if I can be there. I just found out both my sister and brother (plus family) will all be visiting the weekend of Raw Nats. To be honest, I was so disappointed they were coming at that time. So I don’t know how much I’ll be able to watch.

5/24/10
Bike trainer 5 min, SLDL barx20 (trying to stretch out my hamstrings)
Deadlies 135x5, 185x5, 215x5
Work sets: 225x5, 255x5, 285x5

My back is not happy today so I stopped at the minimum.

Edit: Stationary bike 25 minutes

Nice work, lots of good progress

You need to draw math into another race to somewhere’s. Had more zip to it than, “Stationary bike 25 minutes”. Training’s looking real good.

Smart lifting, sometimes you’ve got to shut it down when you get what you need.

I’m looking forward to the PL meet this summer. You are going to blow away your old meet marks with the way your training has been going.

Soldog: you definitely will! ^^^^^^^

Thanks everybody!

kmc - I am pleased with my progress this spring

Harry - I plan to actually get outside on the bike this weekend and see how bad my lungs are after basically a year off.

Joe - Smart? or wimpy?

Carl and Snapper - I’m really looking forward to the meet and hoping for more than one good lift in each one to really blow away my old total.

snapper - it’s understood that family comes first over videoing for an internet acquaintance.

5/26/10
Shldr Rehab warm-up
MP Training max = 120#
45x10, 55x5, 65x5, 75x5,
Work: 85x5, 95x5, 105x13

A1: BBB 75x10x5 sets
A2: Dead hang Pull-ups 5,5,5,5,4 (+2 reps)

Pull-ups up again by 2 reps and the BBB at 75 was easy for all reps unlike barely getting them last cycle.

The picture is my weekend project from a windstorm on Monday

Even when powerlifting’s involved?

Yeah, that windstorm was crazy.

dog: trying for a tad bit wider stance during those presses might help stabalize your core. I also wobble a bit when it gets tough. But that’s just my 2 cents which you can throw at the windstorm.

hey nl! thanks - I’ve just been taking the same stance for these as I do for deads. Probably because they start from the floor the same. But you are right, a wider stance will help out that stability issue.

5/28/2010
Clean house 2 hours, Bike 5 minutes warm up
Training max = 260
Squat Barx10, 95x5, 115x5, 145x5
Work sets: 170x5, 190x5, 225x14 PR +2 reps(over 6 May, 2010), Est max PR + 6 lbs

BBB 155x10x5 sets

Rack Pulls (pin 5, below knee )
135x5, 225x5, 315x5, 405x2 PR + 1 rep

Feeling pretty good today, got to sleep in on the first day of a 4 day holiday. I’m pleased that my estimated max is finally moving up on squats.

Big squatting George, I doubt seriously I could do 225 for 14 reps. Thats grinding them out right there.

I stand with my feet offset…one in front of the other. Helps my balance significantly.

Dog - Nice work on the skwatts.

First ride of the year and I sucked wind the whole time. Perhaps wasn’t smart to do it the day after a heavy leg work out…

GPS lost battery power about half way thru total ride was only 5.5 miles. A lot of steep sections requiring push power instead of ride.

rug: never heard of offset stance but I’m def trying it this week.

Great work on those PR’s Dog! I can only dream of repping 225 for 14.

Hey, a bike ride with topos! Where was this? I’ve gone on exactly one bike ride on the trails near you. I can’t remember exactly where, but it was somewhere between Nederland and Estes Park. Keep kicking ass!

Nederland and Estes Park are north of I-70 and Boulder. This is near Conifer south of I-70 and Evergreen. Real close to home and I’ve not been there before today, go figure…

5/30/10
Bench Training max = 175#
w/u road bike 2.1 miles, 13 min, shldr rehab
Barx10, 75x5, 95x5, 115x3
Working: 125x3, 145x3, 165x3

Anticipated openers for the July meet 185x3

Tried to do all my sets paused to attempt to simulate a meet cadence. I don’t know if I succeeded in pausing long enough. The set at 185 went up but not as easily as I hoped. That last rep had my butt up off the bench. Feeling a bit drained in spite of actually sleeping 10 hours a night the past two nights, so I ditched the assistance work. Squat day followed by yesterday’s bike ride killed my legs and today’s warm-up ride was somewhat painful.
