Dogpile 2010

4/2/10
Bench Training max = 165#
w/u 10 push-ups, shldr rehab, 10 push-ups
Barx10, 65x5, 85x5, 105x5
Working: 120x3, 135x3, 150x9
Assistance 95x10x5 sets
DB BO Row 75x10x5 sets

Feeling better about lifting today when otherwise down and draggin’. Got all 5 set of assistance work and need to go up in weight. Could have done more on the money set but 9 seemed like a nice number to stop at. Quads, Hammies and glutes are all sore enough today to make stairs and even standing up from a chair ‘interesting’. Better attitude after training too â?? funny how that works…

Great work on the bench and the BBB set + rows. You are really getting back into the groove.

Bar path is looking nice and groovy. No wasted energy.

thanks guys, it felt good

Nice benching dog, the last BBB sets can be grinders for me too.

Even His Jimness says that BBB is supposed to suck and make you sore as well as make you big. You’ll get it back soon!

Wow, this has been one rough year. Good to see you back to the point where training can be consistent. Looks like I have some catching up to do. Keep up the hard work.

What with the probable move down the mountain, are you still planning on doing the mountain trail races?

Hi Carl - yep this has been a rough year. I never did more than that first race almost two years ago now. Last summer was a bust due to some of those issues that made the year so rough. This year I hope to get out on the trails with my riding buddy but probably won’t race. I’ll also get out on the flatter trails for more conventional riding after we move down off the mountain.

I plan on doing at least one more powerlifting meet this year should training and finances allow. Look back in December and you’ll see my first efforts at a PL meet.

Thanks for stopping by

BW squatsx20
Deadlies 135x10, 185x5x2
Work sets: 225x3, 255x3, 285x10

Back tightened up to near spasm after that so I called it a night. I’m never gonna get my BBB sets in this way…

Sleep has been pretty good over the last week despite a mix up in the courts with my son’s case last week that really stressed me out. We were told he was in a diversion program and then show up at court to be told that he wasn’t. WTF?

made some called and the referring person found out that the assistant DA who was supposed to take the case to a supervisor for approval left without doing that. So a different assistant DA is taking it in for approval this week. Hopefully it gets approved and we can avoid a trial and all that.

Nice pulling good reps!!

I think BBB squats could be great.
BBB deads make me ill just thinking about it.

Great lifting Soldog. BBB on squat and deadlift days can be brutal. I did BBB squats tonight and was useless for an hour afterwards.

That 10x285 is nice pulling George. I found that doing lots of stretching, even on non-lifting days, has helped to keep my back and hammies from getting tight during DL’s.

hey george, continuing good work here. as a veteran of the bbb deadlift, i can tell you that you have to do the lacrosse ball on the piriformis thing. this has cured 90% of what I thought were back problems. check kevin’s mobility thread for the video.

if I have already pimped this to you, my apologies. the memory is the first thing to go.

I have an old blown disk that required a laminectomy that periodically causes issues esp. if I don’t warm up properly. Which, of course, I didn’t. I also have been neglecting my stretching and mobility work. Thanks for the re-pimping - I need to revisit all of that stuff.

4/7/10 Bike 5 min
Shldr Rehab warm-up
MP Training max = 110#
45x10,60x5, 70x5
Work: 80x3, 90x3, 100x13

BBB 65x10x5 sets
Dead hang Pull-ups 4/4/4/3/2

Got some nerve twinges/zings down the outside of my right forearm from the elbow about half-way down while doing the pull-ups, what’s up with that? Hasn’t happened for over a year and it’s not like I’m rushing back into things.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Pullups are looking good and the mps are coming along. Maybe you’re twisting a little duriing the pullups.

Thanks Harry - I’ve lost ground but it’s going to come back quick enough.

It won’t be long until you are all the way back.

Thanks Kimba

you’re right, it won’t be long as long as I keep a consistent lifting schedule

BBB 135x10x5 sets

Nothing left for Rack pulls today. I’m pleased with the 9 reps on the money set even if they did turn into partial GMs at the end. BBB truly fried my quads today and I was trying to arch and push my butt out so hard my spinal erectors got pumped.
