Does Body Count Matter?

Agree, disagree.

The first four are really dogma to control society. The rest are really about theft - theft of life, goods, wives, etc…

oh right… I forgot about the ones where you can only have 1 god and such. I agree with the “no theft” ones

This was done by many cultures, white and otherwise, for a variety of reasons.

I am genuinely interested in the reasons why.

So I Googled it.

This is from the NIH.

The practice is rooted in patriarchy and Hindu mythology that considers women impure, thus untouchable, during menstruation and childbirth .

Note - patriarchy.

Morals existed before Christianity existed. Pagans had morals including those regarding sex, or any other human behavior. Only poorly educated people with some agenda reduce everything to one thing. The Church has “issues” with a lot of human behaviors and the choices we make, not just sex, and it is all for the same reasons.

Don’t talk about subjects you clearly have no knowledge of. Are Jews white? Are they Asian (the Middle East is in Asia)? Human construct? You are countering one human construct with your own human construct.

Not if you are.

Like La Madonna? The mother of Jesus. You might want to read about Jesus’ interactions with women, including prostitutes.

You use examples from Islam to criticize Christianity. Look at Renaissance art and see just how much Catholics feared the naked body.

I would trust the NIH on the subjects of history, culture and religion as much as I would trust it when it comes to Covid.

Growing up in the religion of my youth I was taught sex was dirty by some, but sex was something we should wait to do until marriage by most in the religion of my youth. Abstinence it was. I did not engage in physical love until the day I married my wife. My count, one. I have no regrets. She had/has a great naked physique, and once we figured the physical part of marriage out, decided lovin’ was fun, not dirty, and I believe we made up for lost time.

I haven’t the time, the patience, nor the ignorance to deal with your phallacious (intentional) arguments.

Go be obtuse somewhere else.

I found the time to deal with yours, making your response unnecessary. Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t pass up a chance to make me look stupid. You can talk about the patriarchy all you want; the kids will still call you boomer.

I am Lakota. I speak from my experience. I have very little knowledge about Hinduism.

This is also from the NIH:
According to the Old Testament (Provisions for clean and unclean of the Mosaic Law), a woman during menstruation or a man who has sexual relations with a menstruating woman are perceived as “unclean”. When seven days pass after the first day of menstruation, the woman is regarded as “clean” and sexual contact is permitted. The character of these Provisions, according to the New Testament and Fathers of the Christian Church, was mainly pedagogical and aimed at helping the Israelites to transcend from physical purity to purification of the soul and from the worship of stereotypes to spiritual worship. Moreover, sexual contact that occurred during menstruation was considered as prostitution. From a modern medical point of view, sexual intercourse during menstruation is normal and not perversion, but is associated, although remote, with undesirable pregnancy, the development of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and possible endometriosis, which affects, inter alia, the health of the reproductive tract. These Provisions were essentially hygiene rules imposed by the social and cultural circumstances of that time and were invested with religious authority. The main aims of the Lawmaker were to promote the Israelites’ health, prevent them from contracting STDs, and increase their fertility and birth of healthy offspring. The term “unclean” for each menstruating woman served this aim.

But, but, the patriarchy is like the mating call of the idiots. Let’s apply the whole patriarchy argument to the eating of shellfish while we’re at it. Maybe the Israelites feared the divine power of the lobster.

Please allow me to add a Christian advance concerning defilement.

Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

Any pleasure enjoyed by the married couple at any time is allowed in the marriage bed. No one is considered defiled in the marriage bed.

Now the last half of that verse is a little more on OP’s topic. It is difficult to read verse 4 and not see the body count is zero.

But, forgiveness is possible as Jesus demonstrated.

Also, it’s telling when someone criticizes Christianity, and Western Culture in general, with weak accusations of patriarchy and misogyny when, if we look at the world, it’s the opposite. I just read about a Brazilian tourist who was gang raped in India where rape is so common it should be the national sport. But maybe the rapists were Catholics.

And that is a blessing.

But we should keep in mind:
Galatians 6:7, " Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

And keep in mind sowing and reaping will always be with us on the earth as we know it.
Genesis 8:22, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

I think that’s a Sikh, not a Hindu.

I have no interest in making you look stupid.

I would be proud to be called Boomer - we are a great generation.

I believe you are correct.

The reality is, you can’t. You obviously lack the knowledge, hence your default mode of throwing out woke talking points that have no substance or meaning or even relevance. You have completely failed to provide any evidence or explanation to back up your position, and as an English teacher you should have some knowledge on how to construct an argument. Maybe you should stick to arguing about Shakespeare instead of religion and history.

You criticize Christianity/Catholicism by bringing up examples from the Islamic world. I mentioned the fact that Renaissance art, created by Catholics, funded by the Vatican at times, includes nudity to counter your whole burka argument and you suddenly can’t be bothered to respond. You want to give the impression of being intelligent and educated, tell me, where is the misogyny and patriarchy in Michelangelo’s Pieta? I don’t expect you to answer because you would first need to Google it.

And, I’ll throw this observation out there: La Pieta is the greatest artistic representation of feminism ever created.

Weak minded people like you believe the world, civilization and culture run on hate. It’s the main driver for creating societies. You’re such a pathetic human being to see other people that way.

I think it’s hilarious that the Vatican broke off all the penises of their statues.

Like, somewhere in the basment there are just crates of stone dicks.
