Do Fat People Piss You Off a Little?

Yeah, I actually sometimes don’t mind if some careless person made a mess of a squat rack because putting stuff away is a warmup. And I too thought when racking and unracking plates with someone else, “It’s good I’m burning calories,” even though it’s unlikely any were.

When I was working as a trainer we were required to rerack weights and clean machines for x-hours per day. I’d make clients do it as a warm up. We did spend the time talking about how everything worked and how to adjust to their limbs, gym etiquette, and I saw most of them doing the same thing even when I was training someone else.

Wow. This thread really blew up. What the hell happened in here? I’m not sure I have the time to catch up it moved so quickly.

I used to work at the local YMCA, and one day found a much bigger mess than normal. I was working the closing shift, was very bored, and since there were only a couple people on the treadmills and no one using the weights, I decided to organize the hundreds of 45lb plates in the weight room. There were several different brands so I just put each brand at a specific rack, and put the ones with no obvious “pair” at the leg machines.

It wasn’t hard while I was doing it but I remember waking up the next morning barely able to close my hands. So at least I got a workout in, haha.

My theory is that since all the other forums are getting clogged with articles being ported in, off-topic has blown up.

This thread is at least 6 different ones at this point.

Better than facebook though.

It does seem that sometimes a random thread becomes the pseudo-Discord channel/Tnation chatroom or something. It’s nice to see it not being about manhood or sexual partners for a change though - although not having read the thread, I can’t be certain of that.

Thing is, while there are exceptions, I find these types of situations are often not perpetuated long enough for what goes around to actually come around. Some asshole decides he’s the king dog and he’s going to push people around. That isn’t because there was some king before him that pushed him around and he now thinks he’s paid his dues. He’s just an asshole. And it doesn’t mean that when someone bigger comes along he’s going to accept the new pecking order. He’ll often be the first to cry foul and squeal for “fairness.” Or worse, he’ll change the rules and say he’s still the one who gets to kick people out because he’s the old timer or similar.

In short, these types of setups often aren’t really some unwritten code or understood rules. They are just bullies being bullies because they think they can get away with it and it benefits them.

THis is really annoying to me, especially since the articles aren’t usually new

The problem with my explanations is that a vast amount of details are required to see the difference between today (and even most of the 2000’s) and the 1970’s is vast. The idea of weight lifting was esoteric. Sports were just beginning to supplement training with weights. All who played sports in the 1960’s had it hammered into their heads that weights made you muscle bound. This taught thought took years to be seen as flawed.

Before Pumping Iron the public never considered weight training as a means of improving your appearance. Most all the people in our gym began lifting weights in college, they were not beginners. I went to NC State University from 1966 through 1970 and only two football players lifted weights.

I know that the 1970’s were like a foreign country as regards to gym culture. The younger you are the more foreign it would seem. The beginner that walked in the gym knew absolutely nothing (no internet).

I am discussing gym etiquette. It is developed organically. It is not changed like a light switch. The etiquette of the 1970’s cannot be “light switched” on today. I would hate trying to pursue what I did in today’s typical gym.

As usual i can’t keep up with the pace of this thread.
I thought the threat was the respondent would show his own asshole to the OP, but the replies imply he would show the OPs asshole to the OP.
My interpretation did seem kinda weird I’ll admit…

What?

Thats not what the issue is and you know it.

People got mad when they heard an opinion that wasnt their own.

Oh, I absolutely know. But it’s what you chose to focus on.

No, but for how much you want to help people. It seemed like it was mostly when you could get credit (Andrew, your muscle-ly body inspired me ), but when it didn’t involve you or the way you thought things should be done, you weren’t quite so positive.

It’s interesting how many of us have worked in gyms somewhere along the way. :raising_hand_woman:

I wonder if that impacts our responses?

The function of the testes is to produce sperm and testosterone.

The definition of artificial is something man-made that doesn’t occur in nature.

You use artificial testes to produce your testosterone.

Maybe that explains your behavior here. I wouldn’t know anything about that because I only use natural testes for my body’s testosterone production.

Natty 5%'er vegan.

I wish I was natty.

I think synthetic Testosterone is typically made from some sort of Mexican yam which is similar to a sweet potato. So it is vegan. Not natty though.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I’ll leave a data point as a guy that uses Test. Mostly TRT doses and less than once a year in cycle doses. I can’t tell a difference in my demeanor. That isn’t to say there isn’t a change. I can notice a shorter fuse in friends when they are using cycle doses. They seem the same as when they were natty on TRT doses (TBH, I think TRT doses made me more chill in general). Tren is a different beast. I’ve seen normally nice patient guys have almost no fuse on Tren. The smallest things piss them off. They come into the gym pissed off.

You can poke fun at me as a gear user. Just thought I’d give my two cents. If one is an ass on gear, it is also no excuse for the behavior.
