Do Bantamweights Look Big in Street Clothes?

I’m a little guy,5 ft 5 in,145 pounds, with a small frame. I lookup to the bantamweight bodybuilders for inspiration.Sadly, they are not featured in the muscle mags.
Do the bantamweight BBs look big in the off season? I mean,do they look like bodybuilders in the same way off-season heavyweights do?
I have no goal of competing so I just want to look big in street clothes. At my height and my small frame (6 1/2 inch wrist),how heavy do i have to get to look like a bodybuilder in street clothes?
I want to look like this guy

Keep getting stronger until you find out.

Logic would say that the short BBers would look bearmode in the off season just like the tall guys do. Keep getting bigger? Add 50lbs and see where that gets you.

Not comparing to the guy in the pic, but let’s say to someone who is 5’10 and 220 while at a given level of being cut, at 5’5" you’d need to weigh about 190 – roughly speaking – while similarly cut to look comparably developed, all else being equal.

Or if the guy similar to you in every way but height was 200, you’d need to be a little over 170 probably.

This is intended as a rough picture only.

Also depends on how you wear your clothing. Obviously most clothing isn’t designed for people who train the way bodybuilders do. I know that if I buy an XL shirt, while I need it in the shoulders and back, it’s usually too long and baggy around my midsection. I COULD opt for the Large shirt, but then it would just look too snug everywhere. Sure, people would look and say something like “bet he’s on dem dere steeroidz!”, but I’d rather not get the attention. My friend Shaun competes as a Bantam weight, maybe 5’3. Normally, he’s covered up, so you wouldn’t cast a second glance, but if he wears a small, or medium shirt, he looks positively beastly at his height.

I guess it’s not “Bantamweight” but the 202 competitors are short guys, and they look plenty big…

Yeah, but English gets to over 270lbs in the off season. That is what you guys need to consider as well. Most of these guys are 50lbs or more OVER their contest weight when not competing…so OF COURSE he looks huge in clothes…BECAUSE HE IS. That fucker gets to just 15-20lbs less than I weigh at my heaviest weight and he is 5’4" or something like that. He’s a fucking tank.

As far as this topic, Bill hit it on the head, you take away or add about 5-10lbs for every inch in height to get an estimated range of what you would have to weigh to match someone else (obviously that isn’t exact).

If I weigh 280lbs, someone 5 inches taller would need to be anywhere from 305lbs to 330lbs to match it.

And btw, don’t your wrist size hold back your expectations.

Wrist size isn’t fixed – your wrists might be an inch bigger a few years from now – and they are an imperfect predictor. There’s some truth to relation of wrist size and overall gift for size: if all you knew about say John Cena was his wrists and all you knew about say Chris Tucker was his wrists, you could correctly predict that Cena could get himself thicker and more muscular overall than Tucker could possibly achieve.

But someone who has 6.5" wrists today and is relatively new to training might wind up pretty thick. You shouldn’t consider it a barrier.

I had tiny wrists as a kid. They are over 8 inches right now. I know this because I can not wear a watch I wore in high school. It won’t even close.

The idea that wrists don’t grow at all is retarded. If you gain enough size, those wrists will get a little bigger. The thing is, most don’t ever get much bigger.

Holy shit that is weird aboutt he wrist sizes…never even paid attention before. Used to be able to touch middle finger and thumb around my wrist with a tad to spare like 2 wears ago, now they’re a good half inch away from touching. Saaweet.

Are you telling me that all of Casey Butt’s hard work was for nothing?! Damn.

Oh I’m well aware that him and Dave Henry and the other 202 guys get well above that weight in the offseason, and definitely look like tanks. When he referenced muscle mags I assumed he was interested in pros, and 202 would I guess be the bantamweight of the pros, and they do indeed look like monsters because they are every bit as filled out as the big guys, just in mini-me stature =p.

No.

Bantamweight 143-1/4 lbs. and under

Lightweight over 143-1/4 lbs. to & including 154-1/4 lbs.

Middleweight over 154-1/4 tbs. up to & including 176-1/4 lbs.

Light-Heavyweight over 176-1/4 lbs. up to & including 198-1/4 lbs.

Heavyweight over 198-1/4 lbs. up to & including 225-1/4 lbs.

Super-Heavyweight over 225-1/4 lbs.

Those are the weight c;lasses in bodybuilding.

Also, most guys competing as bantam weights are under 5’6" with some as short as 5’2".

The small joints (wrists) will also add to the illusion of looking larger than you are. My wrists and ankles are pretty tiny compared to my middle brother who is the same height as me. He’s not a small dude by any means, but I LOOK more muscular.

Flyweight

Not sure if you saw this, but Denis Pedneault is 5’2" and 140 lbs contest weight. Amazing physique, although Thibs says he looks like a kid in street clothes:
