Do Androgens Create New Hair Follicles?

I’m a long-term TRT patient dabbling in some additions to my regular treatment. I’ve noticed a significant increase in my levels of body hair since I’ve been on TRT. I’d like to be less hairy and am fine to pay for laser hair removal, but I’m curious whether any of you have had the bad situation of getting laser removal and then having additional hair grow in from continued used of androgens.

Does anyone know if androgens actually cause the body to generate new hair follicles? If so, I’m not sure whether to do laser hair removal since I’d be getting new ones growing even as I arrest the existing ones with laser treatment.

Thanks!

I know it certainly doesnt increase the hair follicles on my head ahahah
Not to sure how many in this crowd get laser removal though

I’m definitely more hairy since being on. Shit, it feels like I never fully finished puberty as a kid and I’m on my second round in my fifties.

It’s ridiculous-- my arms, shoulders, back (ugh), etc. I basically have a full fur suit on at all times.

I wonder how to find out if it’s new follicles being created or just existing ones getting activated.

Laser is 100x better than shaving. Easier on your skin, semi-permanent, etc.

From what I understand the hair follicles are already there on the body. A human supposedly has the same amount of hair follicles, like a gorilla, all over their body. In humans adult males only some are selectively dominant, head/face, pubic area, chest and in some guys on their back.
I guess they get changed, probably permanently, as I don’t see them disappear after the cycle.
I think testosterone is worse than many other steroids like deca and EQ. I don’t remember seeing shaved follicles on the pics of bodybuilders in the 70’s, to the 90’s.In the 1990’s they started to use larger amounts of testosterone… Look at most close ups of the back and shoulders in MD and you can see closely shaved follicles, as you can on a man shaved face.

Waxing wouldn’t be viable as they hairs are very thick and long and would cause ingrown hairs.
I have no idea if laser removal is any good for this type of hair.

Yea for sure. My wife is a cosmetic dermatologist and they do it in her Office. Not always the most pleasant experience. Weirdly enough more women seem to be enjoying hairier men these days so maybe we are all in luck haha.

It’s funny, my wife doesn’t mind me being hairy. It’s me that cares! I feel like it makes it harder to see the muscle, and I have tattoos that have now gotten hairy where there wasn’t hair before. I will try electrolysis on the tattooed areas as you can’t laser on top of a tattoo. I’m jealous you have access to a cosmetic dermatologist! I’m getting old enough now that I want Botox-- I’d be pestering my wife for it if she was a derm like yours!

Hahaha man it’s awesome. I am there for her hormones as an endocrinologist and she has all of the skin work handled. Haha. Everyone wants Christmas fillers Hahahaha.

@InCorporeSano

You two are gonna age so damn well, I’m acutely jealous. You guys adopting anytime soon?

Hahaha awesome. No I don’t think so. Haha. We have two girls and a baby on the way so I think we are stopping here
