Dmaddox and Me

Hey good stuff, guys! Great that y’all got to get together.

I’ve made some VERY close relationships on T-Nation over the past 10 years, including a number of phone calls, but the only one I’ve ever met in person (a few times now) has been Mr. Chushin, who, I am pleased to report, is just as much a gentleman irl as he is online. He and I have some other meets lined up here soon, though (Mr. Push, we still on, I hope, for sometime this year?).

Pat, why on earth did I always think you had red hair?
Cortes, I saw the pic of your son. I didn’t know anybody took bowling so seriously. What a cutie. Nice to see you back.

I’ve thought Dmaddox and wife must be quality people. I’d totally go to lunch with them.

And to put Pat’s height in perspective… I’m standing next to my 5’9" son in this picture.
Pat is HUGE.
Damn, I didn’t know you could tell through those jean shorts… :)
Hey, now. I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Sorry, you hung a breaking ball over the plate… Had to take swing

Our son is thinking about Rice next year. If it happens, the Puffs will be contacting you about the in’s and out’s of Houston.
I live right around the corner from Rice. What a good school, but extremely Liberal. Just giving you a heads up. If you are Liberal then it will be perfect. A little weird, but the campus is beautiful.
BYU, also on the list.

Are you LDS?

Because that is the ONLY reason to go to that crap factory

That sign is like 1/4 mi away.

You think they went there, ate, then went across the street take this sweet pic with that majestic Waffle House sign in the background?

I can destroy some waffle house, but no we did not eat there. We had some coffee at Starbucks. It was my first time in that area so we needed something right off the freeway that we both could find.

Pat is a great friend and can not wait to hang out or squats.

LOL! I see how this is going to go.

You obviously haven’t waded through the 28 pages of crazy on that Giving up on Women thread. Yes, I am a former Coug myself. The college football games were awesome. I know, I know. I’ve given you a hard time about the lack of decent ethnic food in Utah. And I’m sticking to it! I hadn’t been back to Utah for 20 years, until we went back last summer for vacation.

Beautiful state, but we have no family there. If we’re talking religion, yes I’m LDS but not conventional in many ways. Faith wise, I’m a bit of a Mormon/non-denominational Christian hybrid if you can picture that, which is one reason I very seldom talk religion or politics here.

EDIT: And FYI, Dmaddox is just trying to get even with me for saying men between 5’4" and 5’10" are in the sweet spot. Nice try.

Lol. I forgot about that. I hold you Puff in the highest regards. I would love to discuss the Mormon/non-denominational Christian hybrid further because that just blows my mind. Same morally, but theologically on different planets. I understand if you do not want to discuss though.

Puff, the only people I have ever know that have gone to BYU were Mormons so that is why I was giving you a hard time. I have nothing against Mormons morally.

I have seen that name around here, but not so much recently.

I think there are a lot of members of the LDS that classify themselves that way. I dated a Mormon girl for a while and we had a lot of discussions about the differences in theology. The Baptist boy and the Mormon girl couldn’t really make it work though ha.

Out of state Mormons are 180 degrees different than Mormons raised in Utah.

That I can believe. We have a pretty large LDS church here and I have known several that went to BYU. Most have come back early and said something to the effect of “those people are pretty extreme”. Not really sure what to make of that though because that could be do to any number of things.

It’s different when they are out of state and they are the 5%…they have to adapt and fit in because they are the weird ones to other people.

Here, you will never meet a more judgemental group of people than Utah Mormons…easy when you are the 95%.
