raised the calories… had a couple brews…and got lots of rest the past couple days.

so much for not completing this phase of 5-3-1. i guess i just am not feeling creative.

wanted to see if i could nail a new bench rep pr with the extra cals. went pretty well… although i BARELY was able to get the last rep up.

workout:

bench press: 55 x 8; 75 x 6; 105 x 5; 120 x 3; 135 x 3 (PR)
bench press: 105 x 8; 100 x 9; 95 x 10; 90 x 11
pendlay bb row: 135 x 8, 8

time for some food!

deja your woman is a cutie. But nearly double bw deadlifts with a month of training? That’s just not fair.

315 is amazing. Just because you pull like this alot, doesn’t make it any less amazing.

i tweaked/sprained the shit out of my wrist on friday night bucking hay.

i was hoping it’d feel better by today, but no such luck. got in my main reps and a dash of accessory work. tried doing the chinups but couldn’t even do one without serious pain. oh well.

workout:

military press: 35 x 10; 55 x 8; 80 x 5; 90 x 3; 100 x 1
seated db press: 20’s x 12, 12, 12

now it’s deload week.

vegas in the morning!!! i’m freakin stoked!!! have some errands to run and some luxury soap bars to make. gonna superset those with a few beers and lotsa nfl. this evening it’s farm chores and packing and we’re out of here early tomorrow. yay!

I hope you’re not making soap out of cellulite.

Hey Deja! I feel like such a squat nazi but I have looked at your newest video and read everyones advice they have given. I know how hard it is to really focus on popping your hips back first and from what I have seen in my clients (and you are also doing) is they are so focused on KEEPING their hips back, they dont stand straight up at all. (i think someone else mentioned you standing straight up)Try it with just the bar, but starting with your body fully upright, stick your ass our first, then bend your knees. Make it a conscious 2 step movement. It will feel awkward but you will get used to it. Something else that will really help you drive out of the hole is setting your rack bars just above parallel and do “dead stop squats”. Bring the bar down, take all tension off of your shoulders and drive with all you have to stand up without using any bounce back from a regular squat. Also, is there anyway you could take video from the front? I would like to see how wide your stance is and what is happening from that angle. (in case anyone is wondering who I am and what the fuck do I know? i will post my own thread in a second.)

yah i’ve done my fair share of bottom start and dead start squats but without video or a person to give me feedback i guess it was a waste of time.

if this fucking rain will ever stop. ugh.

but yeah someday when someone’s around when i’m squatting i can get them to hold the camera.
