got in a big dinner last night of carnitas tacos, ribs, n spanish rice.
but so far today have only had half a slice of toast.
at least i’m leaning out. =+/
i really need to get my head back in the game. at least i’m not skipping workouts. yet. haha
not doing 5/3/1 rep scheme since i’ll be out of town for quite a few days next week without access to equipment. besides with these calories i don’t have a chance to hit the prescribed reps. and i really need to let this wrist heal some more.
workout:
deadlift: 135 x 6; 185 x 6; 235 x 5; 285 x 2; 325 x 1
deficit deadlift (4" step): 185 x 6, 6, 6
seated machine row: 55 x 20, 20
what is your wrist issue deja? not sure if mine is a ganglian cyst or what…stupid bump right in the crease of joint on top…f’n hurts bad, intense pressure until i ‘pop’ it. my massage therapist had hers surgically ‘scraped’ away, said it’s great now…
So I have a crazy idea…since your wrist is jacked and your freakin OWN deadlifts, have you ever considered skipping a week or two of heavy DL and focus on just assistance movements? Stiff Leg Deadlifts, cable hamstring pullthroughs, good mornings, etcetera? Your body could probably use a break, your central nervous system gets fried everytime you do max out reps and it would give you some energy to focus more on squats.
Because the two are such “full body experiences” you cant fully recover from one and expect to jump right into the other and have the same energy. I only do one of them heavy per week, and I alternate. Still do the deadlift movement but do it at the end when your hamstrings are fatigued and you may be able to feel them better with the deadlift. And dont go about 70-80% of your max. Just a suggestion…

thanks T. yup i’ve been out and about the last week or so. spent a few days up in nevada city. got in some good hiking. then did the christmas thing in the valley at my parents and then at my gf’s moms a couple hours south.
i’m trying to kick a cold so the rest has been nice. i’ve eaten an absolute shitload.
need to get back to hitting the weights.
kali built me a wheelbarrow sled so that should be fun to play with this next week.
i was sent home with a 22 lb turkey i need to roast today. protein baby.
i promise i’ll get rusty wheelbarrow sled drag pics. kali’s gonna make me a couple sand bags to load it up with. we’ll try to pull the sled at least once a week. we’re already running out of firewood so our “weekend” this week is gonna be busy with wood cutting… but i’ll try to get a few drags in.
today’s workout was a hodgepodge of overhead presses, power cleans, dumbbell squats, and pull ups. immah be soar.
of course my parents called to say my olympic dumbbell handles they got me for christmas came in today. one freakin day late.
so while i was home…my sister and i compared our limb/torso lengths. we’re built very similarly… i just have more butt back.
we take off our shoes and stand next to each other. it’s obvious that my knee cap is about .5 an inch above hers. our hip bones are exactly even. and her shoulders are 2 whole inches above mine!!! bitch!!! i always knew i had a short torso… but i obviously was dealt the midget torso gene.
i gave my parents shit the whole time. wtf!?!?! and i was standing perfectly straight. damn genetics! she’s almost 3 inches taller than me and it’s all above the hips.
Long legs are nothing to sneeze at. My childhood best friend grew up to be 3 inches taller than me but when we sat down next to each other, I was taller than her. She had long legs, I had a long back. Guess who got all the boys?

long legs are cool… but the long leg/muffin top combo is pretty nasty.
haha
had another great hodge podge workout. lots of power cleans, front squats, hack squats, rdl’s, and some bench press. i’m enjoying this week of just doing what i feel like and not keeping good notes. i’ll be ready to get right back into 5/3/1 come january. i’m doing lots of different squat variations at low weight these coupla weeks to work on keeping my damn torso upright and try to get the feel of really sitting back and keeping my chest up. it’s fucking hard.
my goals for the new year include improving flexibility and mobility and focusing on prehab and conditioning more.
i FINALLY ordered a foam roller. i got a couple mini bands too.
i’m excited for the new year. lots of traveling plan. i’m really hoping to lean out a bit more and spend a vast majority of the year able to sport a bikini. training should be fun. i already can’t wait for spring. lol
