I have the highest respect for anybody who performs at the Olympic level in anything, but I confess, the games bore the hell outta me. I might watch weightlifting if I find out when it’s on, but if it ain’t hockey, I couldn’t care less.

wasn’t there also something about distracting one of the American girl gymnasts? or icing her?
15 minute wait for the score to be delivered from the routine right before her. So yes, they iced her.

NBC has olympic streams of events live for the things that don’t make it on t.v. (like weightlifting - badminton gets on but not that for fucks sake).
Swimming over and over again is boring as shit. There needs to be an extreme Olympics with fucking body counts or some shit.
There is nothing redeeming about the Chinese. That is not jus tthe government, that is the people themselves.
And that’s not racist. I lived there for a year and taught in their schools. It’s not the color of their skin, it is their national culture.

Maybe you should lift weights every once in a while instead. All that chlorine will turn your hair green.

Hah
I’m looking forward to the hammer throw, thats one of my favorite throwing events to watch.
Weightlifting has been good, the 85k showdown was the best so far.
If it wasn’t for the fact that they now have the internet to stream all the events, these olympics would suck. The nbc coverage is horrible.
Football season needs to start soon.
Doesn’t anyone find it ridiculous why almost every swimming race is producing a new world record?
I heard the pool is an extra meter deeper and the water is colder creating less resistance. I didn’t think they could change the depth of the pool.
Also, they shouldn’t allow the swimmers to wear that special Speedo suits that lets them swim faster. There should be standardized swimwear for everyone. It’s a slap in the face to the former world record holders.

But it makes the China Olympics that much more memorable.

I always knew you were a Canadian at heart, eh!
I would LOVE to watch a non-nationalist broadcast of the Games. The CBC broadcasts are celebrating the 7th place finishes of our athletes, and NBC’s is pretty much just “The Michael Phelps’ Show”.
Not to piss on his parade or anything, but there are plenty of other things going on in the games besides Canadian losers and American swimming.
I just love all the McDonald’s commercials touting how they are a proud sponsor of the Olympic games, showing pretty dang buff athletes in various sports eating fast food shit WHILE doing their sport, the runner eating a burger while coming down the track.
Things like this are enough to make me want to get a sex change, hightail it to Tibet, and become a buddhist monk. Oh wait… China fucked that up too.
Just change the channel. Much better to break your imagination by trying to mentally undress Jessica Biel than attempt to comprehend either the commies, McD’s, or anything Phelps-related.
Man, i live in Brunei. I get all the Olympics.
Astro (provided by malaysia), we got this like special channel which lets us view all the events at one time. I watch most of the weight lifting live… But i ask myself
“What is going thru their minds?”… Knowing a hell lot of people (I guess not many who watch NBC) are watching you at this very moment.

The dude’s gonna win 8 golds. Ain’t really much else to cover at this point.
And I’m sorry, but weightlifting is incredibly boring. I’d much rather see any kind of race or wrestling/judo/TKD.

The former world record holders wore the last special speedo suits. The world record holders before that wore the special speedos before that…
Should we go back to leather football helmets, wooden tennis rackets and swimming pantaloons?

You have to admit it’s kind of cheap though.
Whatever.
Looks like we got all our jokes in just in time…
Canada has won 3 medals (one of each, yeah we’re thorough like that…) since yesterday.
Take that, Togo!
I’m not watching it anyway.
It aires live every morning at 4 am (different time zones). I’m not getting out of bed that early just to watch the chinese cheat their way to victory.
Maybe I’ll get up extra early to watch the heavy weight divisions of weightlifting, but that’s it…
The chinese will probably cheat on every cheat-able olympic sport.
I noticed weightlifting is on NBC like once, you have to go online to view it ![]()
Ouch

Nah, but right across the river. It’s not that I dislike sports or have disdain for the Olympics at all. They just don’t hold my attention, except hockey. I will say the winter games have some events I like more like bobsledding and ski jumping.
The Olympic Games are a big deal and they should be. They just don’t tickle my fancy to watch. Compared to a wartime hockey game or especially a white knuckle playoff series, everything else is drying paint to me, including football, baseball and basketball. Just personal preference.

Anyone else absolutely disgusted?
Fake fireworks?
Switching out the girl who sings the communist national anthem and making another girl lip sync it because the girl was too ugly?
Ridiculous judging?
Cheating gymnastics girls who are 12?
How much of a sham are these motherfuckers going to make this?
I also felt some of the performances were just plain sad.
