P-Dog, I would stick with having all your carbs in the post-training period.
Both JB and I have made it quite clear that a whole-food meal need be consumed within an hour or so of the post-training Surge.
As far as the Cheater’s Diet, I love my boy Joel to death, man, but I simply cannot recommend such a plan as drastic as that. In lieu of that type of frenzied eating, I would suggest a day where you eat four or five P/C meals and strive for about 400g of carbs or so, albeit from your standard sources.
timbo,
here is a quote from jb way back from issue # 155. he was advising on how to use diet and cardio to get leaner.
“First, directly after your weight training workouts, you?d perform about 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise at 60 to 70% of your HR max. Immediately after this session, consume a Biotest Surge-like beverage containing 0.4 grams of protein hydrolysate and 0.8 grams of carbohydrate per kg of body mass. However, don?t eat again an hour later. After your post-workout drink, just eat every three hours as usual.”
what do you think?
I think if you asked JMB today, he’d give you different advice.
i e-mailed jb, hopefully he can clear up this issue.
P-Dog, I hate to burst your bubble, but don’t expect the Guru to e-mail you back too quickly. He’s a little busy these days.
Since that’s the case, I’ll go ahead and speak for my boy. Why don’t you go ahead and take a look at the interview with JB in this week’s online mag. You’ll see that one of the top three mistakes is not eating a meal within 60 minutes or so of your post-training Surge. I shall not quote the man here and now, as I’m not that arrogant. Go ahead, P, take a look:-)
thanks timbo, i appreciate your time. i guess this is just another case of the information changing over time due to current research and experiences.
