Diet Conundrum

Well, I’m stumped. I have no idea what’s going on…

Let me explain. I find myself, again on a diet. I gained the same 30 pounds 3 times now, I’m losing it again.

But this time something is very wrong.

I started last Sunday, had 100% perfect adherence till this Saturday when I had a planned cheat meal (Not a cheat day, just a few slices of pizza).

My diet is based on Precision Nutrition; I only have carbs at breakfast (Or Post-workout), good carbs of course. Steel Cut oats, an apple. Whatever.

All my other meals are lean protein and vegetables. Some Low-Carb Metobolic Drive is thrown in there too.

I have GAINED weight since I started. Sure, I feel much better (As one always does when they eat right) But I started at 228.2 and I just stepped off the scale at 229.6.

What makes me want to rip out my hair even more is the fact I just got transferred from a sit-down job to one where I walk 10-14 miles a day. I thought “Sweet! Active recovery/ burn more calories outside of the gym, etc. etc.”… nope

The only difference is, (And I’ve been sitting here thinking for the past 10 minutes) is this time the only supplements I’m taking are Omega 3’s and some digestive enzymes. In the past I’ve always taken some kind of fat loss supp. Could that really be the only thing…?

I am very VERY reluctant to suggest this because so many people use supps as a crutch, I thought I did not need them this time (I planned for things to go a little slower) but I’ve never had a weight GAIN after the first week!

Could just be some water weight. Don’t get too crazy with the scale everyday, it’ll drive you insane. Pick the same day once a week before breakfast to weigh yourself. Until then, use the mirror. Do you feel as if you gained some fat? Stick in there.

Same as above. Once a week is enough. Don’t fret over a couple of pounds. Did you take a deuce yet? Maybe you’re backed up. I do a strict diet (South Beach) as well, and cheat occasionally with pizza or chocolate. It happens. Even if you gain it’s not the end of the world. Maybe, just maybe, you gained a little muscle from the increase in leg activity. I don’t know. Bottom line, forget about it.

I know when I’m on a strict diet and cheat on the weekend, I tend to bloat up to 10 extra lbs. It’s usualy off by Wednesday.

water weight. don’t worry your head about it.

Thanks, I’ll start jumping on the scale right when I wake up on the day a cheat meal is planned.

I’ve been obsessive about my diet because at this new jobsite I get made fun of for eating vegtables… I know it shouldn’t let it phase me but it does once in a while.

Thanks again.
