Did His Shoulder Just Spring a Leak?

I was there… infection. The guy has pulled out 30 cc the day before the contest…

We told him to go the the hospital.

30cc of what? I am very interested in this.

He tried to bleed the infection himself?

You can definitely see the difference between Grigori’s two pics. Do elite level competition judges screen for this? Not sure how you would prove it though, unless someone springs a leak while on stage.
Somebody should run up when he’s on stage and stab him in the shoulder with a pin for the good of the BB community. Then surrender themselves to the authorities.

I was about 3 yards away when this happened. This was actually the contest (and the class) in which Sebastien (DaFreak) competed. You could actually hear a ‘POP’, like a champagne bottle, when it burst.

That is AWESOME. I wish I could have been there.

You’ll have to forgive me…it’s a medical thang.
The funny thing is that he actually got back on stage after wiping the puss away. Needless to say that the head judge threw him out!

It’s kinda sad, he’s actually a good guy (used to train at the same gym as me) and has a very good physique. He probably panicked this year and did something stupid.

You’re lucky you didn’t catch some in the eye when it popped.

His shoulder didn’t look red or swollen outside of the swelling from the synthol…the usual signs of infection. Maybe the tanning oil covered up the other signs of it.

I wonder if people are aware they could die if infection gets bad enough or forms severe cellulitis?

Well, we are not all blessed with your natural tan. He probably applied 5-6 coats of pro tan (a tint) then applied dream tan before hitting the stage. This stuff normally covers even tattoos.

this is what I’ve been told

I will give the guy credit for haivng a massive set of balls to try and go back out on the stage after that happened. Then again, maybe he’s just dumb.

I don’t think it was synthol. From reading post from high level BB’s many of them believe it was either winny or test prop (it was a clear fluid). Some competitors will do a quick injection before they head on stage ot give them a better look. Who knows if there is truth in this though.

It’s a discrace for BB’ing, hard to promote a ‘sport’ when events like this occur.

Yea - just the fact that it burst the way it did indicates severe edema and infection - like a big zit reaching that point and it just pops through the skin - very unpleasant.

I was thinking that the tan probably covered any epidermal redness…

Yuck!

The stupid part is that now all bodybuilders are defined as cheaters. If one guy in MLB got caught with steroids are all of them cheaters? Should we abandon the sport?

What are you talking about? The IFBB is completely untested. How is anyone a cheater?

It’s not technically “cheating” in bodybuilding until someone bans it. To my knowledge, no one has.

True. But I guess BB is more borderline with the general population. Hard to understand for the average lazy Joe. With the desire to win, I guess athletes from every sport come to do stupid things at one point or another anyway…who are we to judge.

so would you say most pros use it?

No. Why would you think that? I am sure some do, but in most people you can tell if you follow bodybuilding enough or even if you follow that particular bodybuilder over time.

Ronnie Coleman wasn’t that big because of synthol. Flex Wheeler had the greatest (least rewarded for its potential) physique on the planet UNTIL he started using it in his delts trying to play the size game.

You can not make some rule that applies to everyone and most newbs wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

The last thing this “sport” needs is newbs running around calling any muscle bigger than what they are used to “synthol”.

Could they check for that stuff at competitions with a sonogram machine or something? To expensive or time consuming?

You seem to believe that judges have made some issue about this. They haven’t. They don’t care and my guess is, unless you walk in with balloon animals stretching the skin over your biceps, they probably won’t count against it.

However, I see few people actually winning who have OBVIOUS synthol use showing.

i didn’t intend to.

I find that sad. It’s stuff like that that turns even guys like me off to the sport. I would think the clean guys would be a little more active about the issue.
