Well…for the last 6 weeks, I decided to take the route of doing 2 cycles in a row without a deload, which Jim Wendler reccomended in one of his books. I did that with success, but I think my stupidity and a slight bit of ego left me humbled. I decided to try and go forth with a 3rd straight cycle.
Tonight was my “5” week for bench. Last cycle, in my 3 week, I hit 245 for 7. Tonight I had 245 for my last and hit 7. I probably could have gotten 8 but it would have been a squeaker. I feel like I should have taken the deload this week…I guess I wanted to push it tonight because I want to try the whole John Kiefer carb backload thing and this week is my week is my prep week, which very minimal carbs should be eaten.
Basically, what should I do? Should I finish up the week as is? Or should I deload the rest of my workouts this week deload and deload again next week so I can deload my bench as well? Any other ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So lets get this straight. You decided to run a 3rd cycle with no deload, which is not a big deal as long as you can hit numbers and make progress. It seems to me that you matched numbers from the previous week, so everything is good. I would highly suggest a deload after the third cycle so you don’t run into the wall.
Carb backloading is fine, as long as you follow it as programmed. Do you have the book? Don’t worry about if it’s the “prep week” or not, just go to the gym and lift heavy and make sure you hit at least the minimum reps. I follow carb backloading and it is easy to follow and allows me to eat food that I want. But I must say that it took about a month for me to dial in the carbs for post workout and not feel bloated the next day.

If you hit the minimum required reps, you’re fine. Evaluate your need for a de-load if you miss any reps or after your 5/3/1 week.
