DHEA?

A friend of mine has started taking DHEA because he thinks it’s going to make him bigger and lose some fat. I questioned why not just use a compound like 4AD or take a T booster, like Alpha Male. If anyone has ever used DHEA or knows anything about it, lemme know so I can justify my argument. Thanks.

“bigger and lose some fat”

If those are your goals, I’m not sure DHEA is the supplement of choice. Diet and possibly cardio (see innumerable posts by TT and others) would be the main elements for fat loss. If you had low DHEA and/or high cortisol it is possible that supplemental DHEA might contribute to fat loss.

If you are going to supplement DHEA as I have recently started (for a specific medical reason) then you want labs before and afterwards to know what DHEA is doing to your endocrine profile e.g. elevating a male’s estrogen would not be a good idea.

like I said, it’s not me, it’s one of my bonehead buddies up at school. From what I’ve read, it sounds like DHEA doesn’t really convert that well into an androgen, which is what he thinks. He has been quoted saying that DHEA is like taking Test, only not illegal. I told him he’s an idiot… anyways, I’m gonna laugh if he spends a lot of money on this and gets no results.

For what it’s worth, I remember when DHEA was first popularized in the mid-1990s, at least in part by ink it got from some of the BB mags. I remember taking it and thinking it was going to be like “the real thing” if ya know what I mean. I remember being disappointed. I remember it later got some press stating that it was basically junk. Kind of like when androstenedione first hit the scene. Andro, in and of itself, is pretty worthless. If I’m not mistaken, DHEA is at least one metabolic step further away from “T” than andro is.

I’d recommend, as someone said, 4-AD-EC or Alpha Male from Biotest, both of which should produce noticeable results.

By the way, just a Monday morning update after a weekend using Alpha Male: It freakin ROCKS!
