DF's Powerlifting Log

If if if you got a 2 plate squat, that’s ~100kg. Your bench is ~60kg at least, dead we’ll say 110kg (I feel like all these are conservative numbers). If we say your BW is 63kg (is that a class for woman? Also I have NO idea what your weight is, nor have I ever seen a picture of you, so I hope this isn’t offensive bahaha), thats a ~290wilks. That’s somewhere in the top 40 for classic lifting (women, all time in the CPU – all time being since they started the classic lifting records…so not long)). Dandy

Accessory

*BPA’s
Mini x 20 x 5

*Chins
BW x 5 x 5

DB Rows
80 x 10
90 x 5
95 x 10 x 3 sets

Face Pulls
22.5kg x 8 x 3 sets

Front Squat Holds
60kg x 10sec
80kg x 10 sec
100kg x 10 sec
120kg x 10 sec
135kg x 20 sec

Had to train at shitty school gym today. Only one squat rack so I let training partner start while I did bench.

Week 1 intensification, ME Bench

CG Long Pause (dead) Bench
135 x 1
155 x 1
165 x 1
185 x 1
195 x 1
205 x 1
225 x 1
235 x 1
245 x 1
255 x 1
265 x 1

Previous Personal Best competition bench is 264.

Squats called for some weird ass rep scheme and I was running out of time so I did half of it:
Squat
315 x 5, 8, 3 (6,7,2,4 was the rest or something like that)

Overall I’m pretty stoked about the bench. Super close gripping my previous best bench, with a stupidly long pause (probably same pause as I’ll have at the meet, heh…). Boooooooooooom.

Well add about 10lbs to that estimate of my weight…

And subract like 30 lbs off that squat. Much more accurate, ha!

I just hope other people are butt winking and knee caving their squats is all. I have technical issues that don’t seem to be getting fixed.

Oh, they definitely will be. Some people have awful technique and still compete.

I 2nd This. I pretty much SLDL my first two deads

Deadlifts
Warmups, warm up singles, then:
408 x 2 x 2
463 x 1 x 3 sets

Not bad for the amount of sleep I didn’t get last night…

Squat
312x3x2 sets
357x3x2 sets
380x2x3 sets
357x3x3

DE Bench
65kg
CGx3x3 sets
NGx3x3 sets
CGx3x3 sets

Squats felt really good for the most part. Monday has some singles again, which will be fun. They’re only at 401 lbs though.

I decided to go for a strength-speed cycle for DE days during intensification. This is the first time I’ve tried a strength-speed cycle and I found this weight was way too light for it. I’ll bump to 70 or 75kg next week. Perhaps do 70kg then judge if 75 is appropriate by feel.

Are the weights still supposed to move fast? Or just feel like you’re pushing fast? To the WS thread I go!

So what kinda science stuff do you do? Do you like solve crimes and flirt with pretty detective girls/dream of someday being able to work out on the field? HmmMmm…
Or are you like mixing colored liquids together and seeing if they explode?

A combination of both. I mix pretty girls together and see if they explode.

I’m in the field of marine natural products. More specifically I look for potential drug candidates produced by marine bacteria. Others in the lab work on corals, sponges and other invertebrates, while still others work with marine fungi, and even others still work on a more synthetic approach, modifying current natural products

You don’t know the half of it. The title of my presentation tomorrow:

High Resolution Mass Spectrometry and Multivariate Statistics as Tools for Chemical Dereplication of Microbial Libraries in a Natural Products Settings

Had a conference the last three days, and have one tomorrow as well. Last night was spent drinking my face off after I presented (this is called networking to others). Sleep for ~5 hours, listen to talks until 3 today. Drive 4 hours home, then go deadlift:

Deads
205kg x 1
225kg x 1
195kg x 2 x 2

For being hungover and not sleeping or eating well the last 2-3 days, I’m fairly pleased with this.

Squat
312x3x2sets
357x3x5sets
Was supposed to do 312x5x4sets but didn’t have the time.

DE Bench
70kg
CGx3x3sets
NGx3x3sets
CGx3x3sets

In NJ visiting family, so trained at a Gold’s Gym…

Squats
315x3x2sets
365x2x5sets

Bench
Competition grip up to 235x1
About 5-6 singles at 185 with competition grip.

Not bad training there so far. Wednesday deadlifting might be a different story. Meet is so soon!!
